Lots of play on M2 legacy build plate- bad carriage block?

I have a M2 with lots of hours on it. The bed has a good ~1mm of play at the corners, and I'm getting inconsistencies on the walls of my prints. The black bed holder is firmly screwed into the silver support underneath, the silver support is firmly screwed to the block, and the belts are properly te...

Can anyone recommend a 3rd party pinion replacement?

So far I have shredded 5 pinions, including 2 that were bought in Feb 2017. These shredded gears are not only a pain to replace, but they slowly degrade my print quality before I realize what's wrong. Is it possible to buy a third-party pinion? All the other gears in the stepper gearbox are in good ...

Maximum HBP Temperature?

I have been having some serious issues with tall, skinny prints snapping off the build plate. Normally this isn't an issue, but it seems like the cold weather is chilling the glass. The warm plate is toasty, but the glass feels lukewarm. I'm going to use my super high-strength hairspray on the bed f...

Tunell Monitor v4 installation

Has anyone installed Tunell on a Makergear before? You can see the product here: http://www.toybuilderlabs.com/products/tunell-3d-printer-filament-monitor?variant=963597844 I just won one and it seems pretty useful, but the instructions here: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=sites&srcid=ZGVmYX...

Re: Single layer shifts- can I use a belt tensioner?

try swapping the x and y connectors where they plug into rambo. see if the problem follows the axis. have you changed the firmware recently? After strengthening the x-axis hub's connection, there appeared to be an immediate improvement in quality. If the problem re-surfaces, I will try the connecto...

Re: Single layer shifts- can I use a belt tensioner?

Okay, set screw is tightened, loctite is applied, binding isn't present, and I'm already printing at sub-100 mm/s speeds.

Single layer shifts- can I use a belt tensioner?

I have been getting layer shifts recently, but usually only 1 or 2 layers before correcting. It also always happens in the X direction, but not the Y direction.

Re-tensioning the X-axis stepper every week seems to help. Can I use a GT2 tensioner to help keep tension constant?

Re: Buzzing fy1906000 power brick- time for a replacement?

I ended up buying a very similarly rated laptop charger from a local store, because the fy1906000 became almost completely fried. Replacing it with the new charger completely fixed all my problems!

Re: Computer PSU as a power supply?

use in anything from 12-35 volts to power everything Although the RAMBo can use anything in that range, the 19 V supply runs the steppers and the extruder heater, neither of which take kindly to different voltages. A lower voltage produces poorer stepper performance, particularly in the old Z axis ...

Re: filament

Take your pick ... eSUN has treated us well in the past, we go through a local distributor in the US -- intservo.com. The same plastic is also sold under MicroCenter's house brand "Inland". I use Ultimachine plastics too, especially their PLA if I can get it on sale. What plastic were you using, an...
