Re: Worn out extruder gear?
Looks like it wasn't a worn out gear... I replaced the printed filament drive with one from a working machine and then it started working again with the normal tension gap. That narrows it down to either the tension bearing or the printed part. I'm printing a new v4 filament drive to check if it is ...

Worn out extruder gear?
I have a printer that has been running fine for a while and then just started failing to push the filament through at random intervals. It will stop, then start again and so on, leaving dead spots all over the print. The extruder gear will barely even grab the filament unless I have the tension whee...

Re: Favorite Print Surface?
With PET, the high-grit sanding is a must. I use 1200 grit to prep my plates. I haven't had to re-sand them yet but I've heard this is required after a while if things stop sticking to them. Wiping with alcohol after each print helps too. I print everything at 70c plate temp. The only issue I've had...

Re: Favorite Print Surface?
Having to put ANYTHING on your plate for adhesion is not the way to go. Gluestick, hairspray, ABS slurry... all of it adds two extra steps: putting it on and cleaning it off. Screw that-- just use PEI and be done with it. One plate does all, never have to muck it up with anything and it is indestruc...

Re: Simplify 3D leaving infill voids sometimes
I've had other people send me IGES files from solidworks and they were more problematic than the STEP files. Some I could not even read into Rhino at all.

Re: Simplify 3D leaving infill voids sometimes
I didn't try that, but it might be a Rhino 3D issue instead of S3D. If I export the STL file directly from SolidWorks where it was created then I don't get the voids, but if I export the model from SolidWorks into a STEP file, then import that into Rhino and export the final STL from Rhino, that's w...

Simplify 3D leaving infill voids sometimes
Anyone ever see S3D just stop printing infill for several layers and then start up again? This leaves an internal void that is not visible form the outside since it keeps printing the outer perimeter shell when this bug happens, but if your parts are under pressure it creates a weak spot where they ...

Re: Quick Start Software Change Request
Leveling is definitely a big improvement, you can nail it the first time every time now. I used to dread having to level the bed with that three screw system they had originally. Being able to adjust the Z-height through software is great too once you figure out the G-code trick for tweaking it on t...

Re: Modular M2 Cabinet
The hive is all setup now. All printers leveled and fitted with PEI plates, noise dampers, OctoPrint w/WiFi and a dedicated UPS on each unit. The only thing left is to run a new power line to my office, since running 9 printers at once in addition to my PC and whatever lights are in the room would t...

Re: Quick Start Software Change Request
Older G-code files work fine on the Rev E machines, but any Z-Offset numbers in those G-codes will still affect Rev E. Machines. (at least in my experience) Also... There is a simple stand alone program for just setting the Z-height without going through all the other steps, ( Original Beta Link ) ...
