Re: nema17 dampers

In for 3 (figure 2 + 1 spare incase anything happens) from Robotdigg. Little weird they go thru a quoting process, but sounds like they're legit. Will post back once I have them installed!

Geckotek 3D printer bed test out

Tried out a new bed material manufacturer - http://www.geckotek3d.com/ Pros: - It works? Seriously though no lifts. - It lets me run the heated bed cooler cuz metal = better heat transfer and whatever the coating is on it makes less heat required - It lets me also run the extruder cooler because I c...

PLA + Sodium Hydroxide for support material on ABS prints?

Dual extruder peeps: Have you heard about using PLA + Sodium Hydroxide baths for support material and subsequent removal? I came across this blog post: http://www.vinland.com/blog/?p=162 and was curious if anyone has tried it. Looks like you probably should have an ultrasonic cleaner to go along wit...

Re: My M2 master profiles.

Couple of pointers to anyone using these that I found. Note that these were on S3D 3.0.1, printed using USB connection. 1) The acceleration speed gets overridden and boosted really high in the beginning gcode script. This made my z-axis super unhappy so I just flat out removed it for now. Going to s...

PS4 Mounting Bracket - Designed by me!

I've been dipping my toe into CAD modeling using some basic software the past couple of months (although I've tried 3-4 times to learn OpenSCAD over the years... no go yet). This is my deepest step yet, and is good enough I wanted to share and get feedback. Most of my designs come from needs around ...

Anyone tried out the new Mac version of Rhino?

I've been meaning to get the windows version, but I'm mostly a Mac guy so the new Mac version is very tempting.

That... and it's like 75% off the price of the Windows version.

But does it work? :)

Re: type of oil to lubricate rails in m2

Makgear Recommends 3-in-1 on Smooth rails and bed screws, and White lithium grease on everything else. If you have an assembled M2, my guess is using anything else recommended here would void your warranty. That said, trombone slide cream is very similar in formulation to white lithium grease, and I...

Re: First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer

Bed leveling the M2 is def a chore. It's my one gripe about the machine. Just to add on to jsc's post, I use Simplify3D's bed leveling wizard to move the nozzle all over the bed to make the process quicker. I end up doing it several times before I get the bed into level. One of the nice things in S3...

Re: Starting with the V4 hot end

Just to echo what others have said - the v3b is *very* well proven for PLA and ABS, and there is literally *years* of experience on this forum with how to fix issues. Many on here can look at a blurry phone photo of some incorrect part and quickly/correctly diagnose the profile issues. The v4 really...
