Re: PVA for support problems

Sometimes no matter carefully you have z height and level dialed in, if there is any ooze, little blobs can form on the extruder head and cause it to hit delicate support structures and knock them over or off the bed. Have you tried adding any "Retraction Vertical Lift" under the extruder/ooze contr...

Re: Low extruder torque -- is that the pinion gear?

I had one of those soft pinion gears a couple of years ago. The biggest symptom was constant clicking from the extruder motor regardless of tension settings or extruder temperature. It got worse until it finally wouldn't feed at all, and when I opened up the gear housing, the pinion barely had any p...

Re: Calibration Screw loosening during long prints

If you haven't already, try tightening all three screws snuggly, then back them off to adjust. If they are already loose the springs will not hold them under tension, allowing them to vibrate out.

Re: Revision E Upgrade Instructions

I was one of the beta testers for this new leveling system. I received a PDF of instructions, but since it was a beta situation, I don't know if it's OK to post them here and I am not sure if they are 100% accurate for the final shipping version. I suspect they'd still be helpful though. If you woul...

Re: New to the Forum

There is a wealth of knowledge here but the search is a little .... not great As much as I love this forum, the search is terrible. I use the following on the Google home page in the search box: site:www.forum.makergear.com whatever search term(s) Much better results. Quite helpful with the wealth ...

Re: Wireless USB Transmitter for MakerGear M2?

I have to +1 the recommendation to go with Raspberry Pi. For around $40 you can not only monitor your prints, but have complete control over the printer from ANY device. The best part is that I don't have to dedicate my high-horsepower Mac Pro to print, so I can use it for video editing, 3D modeling...

Re: Move Z-Endstop to the bottom

I was one of the beta testers for the modified spider and leveling system. Mine is also a mid 2013 machine. It did not require any changing of the z motor or rods, and at the time I had the old V3a with the ceramic heater and it didn't need to be messed with. While I do have the new spider, it would...

Re: Hatchbox TPU Filament Amazing but Goopy

I've used it for a wallet, grips for my DSLR camera rig, tire treads on models, a plug for a piggy bank, spill-proof caps for my side-fed airbrush color cups, and airbrush tip covers to provide protection in case of dropping one and damaging over $100 in parts. It is pretty useful stuff - let your i...

Re: Custom dual extruder firmware configuration

Thanks Tim, what a simple solution! That will save a bunch of trial and error. I know that a 19v/12v dual is rare, but with it being an older machine, to upgrade to the V4 dual I'd need a new power supply, a new heated bed, rewiring of the fans, the new extruders, new motor, harness and new mounts. ...

Custom dual extruder firmware configuration

I have set up an older (mid 2013) 19v/12v M2 with a custom dual extruder using the E3D Chimera, which is basically two E3D V6s morphed together. As this is not a MakerGear supported setup, I need a bit of help with the firmware. The firmware I have currently works for my single E3D. Since my new ext...
