Recommended filaments to have around
I was thinking of getting some various spools of filament, namely different types like nylon, ninja flex (or similar), and/or some blended materials. My question to everybody here what would be some suggested filament types to always have on hand?

Re: Absolute max print size
Thanks folks, yeah..I have a V3b, and I measured my z axis to something like 196.85mm (7.75in). I ended up only make a 40% and 20% scale version of the part for my coworker and he was pretty happy with it, even though I was not. I wasn't too happy any of the prints because every print had a defect o...

Re: Well, this is heartbreaking.........
Glad to hear it didn't cause too much damage, and yeah next time it will happen while the print in in process and for some reason it will drive the bed right into the extruder while you're printing. With this kind of issue and the fact that the z-home switch is in an inconvenient location, I've been...

Re: Absolute max print size
Yeah, I was thinking something along those lines, it has a 25mm wall thickness (crazy) so i was thinking after it was split I could put a key along the entire length and slot on the other side, kind of like the quick wood flooring (can't think of the correct name for it), and apply an adhesive in th...

Re: Absolute max print size
Yep, saw that thread last night, and I have to say is..... WOW. IIRC the reason the engineer for mine was wanting to actually mount the part on a robot and mount I think a gopro and something else onto it. so he was worried about it falling apart and the appearance of seems, But looking at the specs...

Re: Absolute max print size
I was just looking through the getting started forum ( i think), and saw the friction welding and the 3 coats of rust-oleum thick, with some sanding may be the route, atm though I still have divide up the print, get more material in, then figure out the best post-processing to use(unless you mean so...

Re: Call for sample prints
I think a 3dbenchy would work, it stress's a LOT of things that could be wrong with a print, such as over extrusion ( part is too tall or wide), x/y oscillation causing the #3dbenchy tag on the back of the boat to not show, and the holes in the front to have ghosting, if there are strings going for ...

Re: What is this witchcraft
I was thinking of something like this on Monday, but my idea was to use stepper motors and rubber coated pulley to push each material into a funnel that leads to the material guide and just have it apply a little pressure to maintain an even flow of material, with a way to cut each piece as needed d...

Re: Absolute max print size
I knew it was a long shot, the reason he and I wanted to do it one shot is because he intends to use it at an expo our company is going to in November, and he wants there to be no seems. He was looking into going with a professional service, one that could actually print the entire thing in 1 go, th...
