Re: Experiments with XTC
In traditional cold casting applications you can mix your metal powders up as high as a 1:1:1 ratio. I doubt that would be as effective here but as long as your epoxy isn't being stretched too thin as a binding agent you can basically metal clad these parts and then buff the crap out of them. Also, ...

Re: SpaceMouse/SpaceNavigator
^ Yup this. When I first started using the space mouse with Rhino I thought I would never need it, but now when I design something at home I instinctively grab for it like a phantom limb. A very very useful tool if you have the $. The 300$ version is overrated IMO (too many buttons I never mapped to...

Re: Discovered why M2 lead times are so long...
While I understand your logic in not dangling the carrot that is a cheaper/quicker kit price, is there a way to add a note to my order to expedite things if I pinky promise to never call you? This isn't my first rodeo with RP machines (I work as a service/CAD tech for a 3d printing co), and I would ...

I wonder why a kit is 3-4 weeks while an assembled printer is 2-3 weeks. You'd think that would be the other way around no?

Re: Cersei Lannister Necklace
Nothing compares to blender. It is the all singing all dancing freak show of 3D modelers. If you can learn it, you can do anything. As the Spartans said to Alexander the Great, though, "If." QFT. Granted I haven't used blender in several years (thank GOD), and they may have improved the UI dramatic...

Re: Print Help
If you post your print settings it will give us a better idea of how to troubleshoot this. Without seeing anything else, IMHO it looks like those top layers are printed a little too hot and they're causing warpage. I might increase the minimum layer print time to allow those small surfaces to cool a...

Re: Rhino: Union vs. Group
Just make sure all of your normals are facing the right direction or some of your sub-parts might make rather interesting holes in your part!

Re: Buying an M2
3.5) I also have Viki panels on every one of my M2s, but few do. Most people seem to be content with Octoprint or similar (I run both, they serve different purposes). If you have the budget I'd say get one ... worst case it's just extra bling, best case you use it every print. Is this the optional ...

Re: Cersei Lannister Necklace
Rhino and Solidworks are two completely different animals. Rhino acts more like a traditional quad-modeler, heavy on the NURBS. Solidworks is all construction plane driven - very rigid and orderly but incredibly easy to make changes to your earliest build parts. If you're building Cersei's necklace ...
