Re: Heated Bed not heating....
the more I think about it (and some exploratory looking at the wiring from the bed showing no breaks...) the plug into the mosfet was melted. could the board be done?

Re: Heated Bed not heating....
any "quick fixes" Some folks have achieved (temporary) success by carving into the silicone pad, exposing the wires, cutting out the failed sections, then applying a generous dollop of solder. Given the crumbled strands, high current, and low conductivity of solder, that's probably not going to las...

Re: Heated Bed not heating....
I did test that, and the results were intermittent, which makes me think the bed wiring is FUBAR.
now the issue here is being in Scotland, and not being a zillionaire, and getting spare parts delivered in time.
are there any "quick fixes" that I can do to work around the problem in the mean time?

Heated Bed not heating....
So...old school M2, 12v machine. Now I know that older machines, like mine, have an issue with the plugs from the power supply to the back of the Board. which I have had in the past, changed the plugs out. worked again. nice. In fact, I had to do that again recently. (so as an aside, if there is any...

Re: S3D is moving the head half distance?
Tim, Huge thanks for your reply. I thought it would be something along those lines, but no matter what I did, it didn't alter. Untill you came along. now the key thing here was, I think, the Microstep modes code, as look and look it was not to be found in either of the config files. So I added it my...

S3D is moving the head half distance?
So here is the thing. I just got my printer out of storage, set it up yesterday. it worked ok, but the temperature on the extruder was being a little erratic, so I autotuned it, which failed, went into config h and altered the PID MAX value, which allowed it to complete its autotune, applied those s...

Re: How to get a smooth finish on a PLA printed part
Someone suggested that I sand plastic with wet paper and submerge the part in water while sanding, to avoid fine plastic dust in the air you are breathing. I have no idea how important this is, so it sounded sensible to me at the time, and that is what I've done the few times I've tried. I must say...

Re: How to get a smooth finish on a PLA printed part
Yep, start sanding with something like 120 or 180 wet and dry and go up to 220. Spray with filler primer, sand again at 220 or higher. Repeat until smooth. Some pla takes sanding better than others; I found colorfab pla to take sanding quite nicely, other I have had to use it wet or the pla tends to...
