Re: Two new problems after 3 months of no printing
Well, I was able to get a finished part out of my printer today. This forum is a necessity for solving problems. In the months I've been away, Jules has done a stellar job creating extremely well written how-to guides that are much appreciated along with all of the other ones I'd previously used fro...

Re: Two new problems after 3 months of no printing
for your first problem i am going to take wild guess that your running windows 10? Yes I am. It seems that could be part of the problem because the upgrade did happen between my last set of prints and now. I had the same thought, but I haven't been able to figure out what settings in Windows 10 cou...

Re: Two new problems after 3 months of no printing
Check your filament too, and if you can snap it with a couple of sharp flexes at the end, instead of having it bend, then it's absorbed too much humidity, and that's probably your problem. Thanks for your comment. I retracted my material and it took 30 bends back and forth to get the filament to br...

Two new problems after 3 months of no printing
I had an extended duration without using my printer. Recently I started up again and I've noticed two problems that I have never had before. First, the printer would randomly just stop, leave a puddle of material and then start up again. I have a new version of Simplify 3D, but other than that I do ...

Re: material between parts
I read this post with great interest. I am seeing a lot of strings left when the print head moves from one part of my print to the other. I had already read somewhere else that lowering extruder temperature could reduce this. I did that and I am still seeing the strings. I think I can still reduce t...

Re: What causes a y offset to occur in the middle of a print
Radio Shack (where they are still around) has a digital caliper for under $30 US. Another source, if you have one in your area, is a Harbor Freight store. I have the RS caliper and it works great and seems accurate. I got a digital micrometer at HF specifically for measuring filament, and it was pr...

Re: Why is my first layer wrinkled
Get an Elmer's Disappearing Purple Glue Stick, in the jumbo size. Apply a layer of that across your bed as necessary. Poof, no more adhesion issues (with PLA). Washes off completely with water. I bought some better hairspray and picked up some of the glue mentioned above. I tried the glue first bec...

Re: What causes a y offset to occur in the middle of a print
Odds are you are over-extruding and at some point the head catches the bulgy top and skips steps. If the head is catching, why do I only see the offset in the y direction? I've done the tests with the square boxes to check my settings and they seem to be good. Unfortunately I do not have a very goo...

What causes a y offset to occur in the middle of a print?
I have been printing a scale model of the floor plan of my house for my son who modeled it in a 3D software package. These are large sections that fill the majority of the build platform. In other posts I've gotten assistance related to first layer problems due to Z-height and bed leveling issues an...

Re: Why is my first layer wrinkled
Well, I've been able to resolve the wrinkling issue. It was completely due to the Z height calibration after I leveled the bed, just as PCS said. ...when it wrinkles usually you are putting to much down with a to close a nozzle. I'm still having issues with the edges of parts pulling up. Even after ...
