*sigh* I feel sooooo much better now that I know there is nothing wrong with the machine. I would much rather be an idiot n00b than have to shell out money for parts

Re: First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer
Ok it is now printing... acceptably. One corner is still a little messed up but I can fix that.

Re: First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer
You said you attached a factory file, but I don't think you did.... Did you see if the extruder rotates at all in its mount? A cracked mount is a common failure mode. Must not have attached correctly. The mount is fine, I checked. Anyways... I think all this drama has been caused by my inability to...

Re: First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer
extruder clicking is from: temp too low clogged or semi clogged hot end extruding too fast bed gap too tight. filament dia too large and or tension bolt too tight squishing filament out of round. if its clicking then its not putting out enough filament because the extruder is skipping steps. it can...

Re: First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer
Well this time it printed a small corner of the 2nd layer before it went to hell. The first layer must be not printing correctly. It is all stringy instead of being solid. If I run my thumb down it all the loose strings move. I don't know why it is suddenly doing this or how to fix it... I am gettin...

Re: First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer
OK I looked at the extruder. There is some plastic stuck around the nozzle, but it isn't obstructing anything. There is also a bit of plastic from the melted plastic spaghetti incident on the side of that silver part that is covered by the cloth. It also is not obstructing anything. I took the cloth...

Re: First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer
The odd thing is that it seems to combine two fairly common issues - bad adhesion on layer 1, which is often caused by underextrusion (or potentially by too tall a layer height), and dragging on layer 2, which is often caused by overextrusion (or too short a layer height). Maybe you have a loose dr...

Re: First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer
It's hard to tell what's going on in the picture - it's a touch on the blurry side. That being said, if what we're seeing is layer 1 and part of layer 2 on top of a raft then I think your issue is starting below layer 2. Just looking at the picture, it looks like layer 1 is not properly adhering to...

Re: First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer
the pic is so blurry its very hard to tell whats going on there. its on one side of the model though and not the other so i would look for an out of level bed and double check you bed gap. if the first layer doesnt go down right then the second wont either. It takes out the whole 2nd layer, I just ...

First layer of print being destroyed by 2nd layer
Hello. I have had the M2 for several weeks now and have printed many successful prints. One night I set a print and went to bed. The results were... just horrible. It printed about 1\8th of the print perfectly and then just printed a lump of plastic slag and strings. It looked like a pack of blue sp...
