Re: Need suggestion on making a nice and big case
Isnt FDM a prototyping for injection molding ? 100-2000 Parts are enough for a small series injection molding. Lousy surface finish - Depends on the money. With a few upgrades to the Makergear those resonance marks disappear and walls get flat and cornes dont show backslash edges. Painfully slow thr...

Re: Need suggestion on making a nice and big case
I think the Smooth-On guys are passing off old ideas as new. Generic "fiberglass resin" from your local home depot will create the same result. Its possible to use hot air to welt filament into gaps. Large flat areas = body filler and sanding. Finer details remain better visible with the resin. Look...

Re: Need suggestion on making a nice and big case
Well its not that easy. It took me ten different ABS suppliers to get the stuff I wanted. Try a thick PEI-coated-aluminium-print bed. with thick I mean 5mm. Heat the chamber and replace all fans with water cooling. Same for the steppers.

Re: PLA Filament cracking when sitting in printer too long?
The best place is in the trash bin. My frist printer was a self sourced Mendelmax 1.5 and it tooks weeks for me to realize the filament has been some mixture between pla and abs. I could never make the printer work. But finally I decided to buy the most expensive roll of PLA I could find and there w...

Jules, now I recall I had such spools, too. They where scattering. There was some point where I stopped buying stuff from china.

Re: Need suggestion on making a nice and big case
Hi, Borosilicate Glass Sheets are used for fireplace windows. I buy the glas from a fireplace supply store. If you have to use ABS its okay to use it. Borosilicate Glass Sheet breaks when you apply point pressure. How do you remove prints? Usually a sharp tool damages the glass and the next print re...

Re: PLA Filament cracking when sitting in printer too long?
I had spools manufactured with a bad spooling method and they where cracking as well. Spools with a small inner diameter, the closer you get to the core the more often it happends. Humidity here is low as well. It taught me to buy better material.

Mahlzeit,
The best place so for for me is http://extrudr.eu/ or German Reprap. The first one supplies me with PET-G and ABS and it's just the best stuff I've ever used.

Re: Apparent Y axis stepper slip
My printing exceed the given speeds. Its more likely an software error, I had it, too. The mass off you print is irrelavant against the weight of the y assembly.
