Re: Extruder gear jam mid print...

Removed the filament drive so now I have a fully exposed extruder gear. Nothing was blocking it in the drive. Heated it up and tried jogging it-- gear didn't move. When I ordered the M2, I got a second extruder. Haven't felt comfortable enough to install it yet so it's just sitting in a box. Since i...

Re: Extruder gear jam mid print...

I had the fan off when I found that the extruder gear wasn't turning. About to attempt to take it apart. Just hope I remove the right screws. I can build computers. I shouldn't be this nervous taking apart a 3D printer. This is why I wish I could've gotten a kit. I'd feel much more comfortable takin...

Re: Extruder gear jam mid print...

Are you saying motor is apart and wont turn by hand if you grab shaft ? Or motor will not turn in machine control panel when jog is hit ? Is the hot end on ? Extruder does not jog with no heat. :D Thank you. I'm an idiot. :? With the heat on, the extruder motor turns (well, makes noise...) when I j...

Re: Extruder gear jam mid print...

Got the filament out. Made sure there was no filament in the gear. Motor still won't turn. Definitely dead. I'm browsing the motors on Makergear's site but have no clue which one or order. Can someone please tell me the right one? And whatever else I might need when replacing it so I can get it all ...

Re: Extruder gear jam mid print...

Anyone have this happen before mid print? If so what was the root cause you found? Yep. Usually caused by incorrect Filament Drive Screw Tension. :) I figured. But I check it every filament swap and it was perfect. I haven't been able to fix this until now. Work and life have been super busy. I can...

Extruder gear jam mid print...

Just started a print. Go to check it 20 min later and find it not extruding. Stop the print and start investigating. I don't know if my extruder gear motor just died or what. Tried backing the filament out in S3D but it won't come out. Gets to a certain point then stops. I don't know if my extruder ...

Re: PEI Bed Surface

Someone mentioned making/printing a jig to help apply it. Anyone design one that can be printed? Some L shaped pieces with a few layers on the bottom that fill in the L to make a triangle with the L shape area being taller as a guide (if that makes any sense. hahaha. Hard to describe what I'm pictur...

Re: Random piece breaks free of the bed while printing...

You can ignore the Thingiverse comments and enable a raft, or you can hose the bed down with hairspray until it finally stops breaking free. I usually opt for the former. Does hairspray grip better than gluestick? I applied 3x my usual amount of gluestick for one attempt and it didn't make a differ...

Random piece breaks free of the bed while printing...

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:478336 I've attempted this object eight times with only one successfully completing. The first 1/3 to 1/2 of the print has a lot of small sections that all come together later on in the print. These small sections are breaking free of the bed in the first 15 minutes ...

Re: Horrible quality on bottom half of sphere shapes...

Is it possible to do that in Simplify3D?
