Re: MAKERGEAR M3-ID reviews

How do you guys with the M3 ID handle multi-color prints? Are ooze shields pretty much a requirement?

Re: Advantages of M3 over M2

I’d be interested in the independent dual extruder model, but would need some more information first, specifically on support inside popular slicers like Simplify3D, limitations on x-axis space, and so forth. I suppose I shall have to wait for online reviews since this kind of information seems to b...

Advantages of M3 over M2

I've had my M2 for a couple of years now, and have gotten it pretty dialed in. I replaced the noisy power supply fan and added isolator pads to the X and Y axis motors; ordered a MIC6 aluminum bed plate from a member here and painstakingly applied the requisite PEI surface, etc. I do find that I hav...

Re: High point in print bed

Further experimentation reveals that the problem is definitely an air bubble...I can feel the bulge in the PEI by running my fingers lightly over the affected area; and can see a visual difference when pressing hard on the plastic. I'm loathe to try drilling a hole in the aluminum; without a drill p...

High point in print bed

This is a weird one: I have a high spot in my print bed. Yeah, yeah, I know: but this is one of those nice MIC-6 aluminum print beds with a PEI surface. I can see the high spot clearly, as a recent print dragged the head across it. I can also adjust the head to a 0.15mm gap, and feel the feeler gaug...

Re: Uneven extruder tension

The new extruder housing arrived. Instead of a small, barely-larger-than-filament-diameter hole to feed the filament into, the hole is large enough to accept the filament guide tube: thus, there's no friction between the filament and the extruder housing, so presumably no ongoing wear. This seems to...

Re: Uneven extruder tension

Customer service responded promptly and is sending me a new extruder housing gratis. The new housings have a socket on top for the filament guide tube so this type of problem should not recur. As best I can tell the sequence was this: 1. Extruder gear comes loose on shaft. It still rotates but can s...

Re: Uneven extruder tension

Guess I'll see if Makergear will sell me just that part, without having to buy the $110 kit.

I'd print another, but, you know, can't print.

Re: Uneven extruder tension

Of course it just stopped extruding in the middle of a print again, sigh. The gear is in the correct position. More examination. Hm. I'm going to guess the filament feed hole in the top of the extruder should be a simple round hole, and not this: http://neko.com/makergear/filament_guide.jpg It looks...
