Re: Nylon

I haven't had any issues so far (I'm on my second roll but I haven't taken the caliper to it), the side surfaces on prints are very smooth and pristine, and it is about as close to the feel and strength of injection molded parts that I have felt from a 3D printed part (granted I haven't tried every ...

Re: Nylon

I will second the statement that PETG doesn't come close in terms of durability. Recently, I 3D printed a MTB dropper post lever out of PETG (100% infill) and it snapped on the 1st hard impact (my knee!). For nylon I use Taulman 910 and on small prints I just use blue painters tape. If I have issues...

Re: Simplify3D Version 4.0 just got released.

I have noticed some bugs in 4.0 in creating separate print processes within a single object (you could do this anyway in the previous version): 1. S3D will not recognize top and bottom layers in between separate print processes....it only recognizes the top and bottom of the entire object. For examp...

Taulman PCTPE bed adhesion

I have nailed down bed adhesion for PLA, ABS, PETT, PETG, and nylon but bigger prints in PCTPE still elude me as they eventually warp off the bed. 3M Blue painters tape works for smaller parts (70°C bed), and PVA glue works better (40°C - 45°C bed) but will eventually warp. I used 2 layers of PVA gl...

Re: linear slider (carriage) replacement time?

They sent me a new slider and that fixed the issue, no more play! I am still getting a slight vibration noise that is similar to the video in your post. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sngk6a0vGz8&feature=youtu.be On the video you posted, around the 26-27 second mark is similar to the noise it makes...

Re: Taulman 910 Advice Needed

I print nylon 910 at 265°C to 270°C (most of the time at 265°C) and I only take the filament out to print when everything is sliced in the software and ready to go (nylon absorbs moisture, etc.), I run the prints at 60-80 mm/s and 1st layer only at 50% speed but noticed that when I print very slow o...

linear slider (carriage) replacement time?

I noticed some play in my X-axis linear slider (in the direction of making the nozzle closer/further from the print bed, or rotational play) and was wondering if this was normal or not. I took apart the x-axis assembly and isolated it to the slider which still moves buttery smooth. I have had the pr...

Re: PLA distortion at the top of tall heavy prints

The complete Y+Z stage weighs nearly 7 pounds, so the plastic weight is pretty much irrelevant. In any event, the object will be pretty nearly centered on the plate, so there's not much torque applied around the Z axis to the slide bearings. I didn't notice any play in the z-axis and it is built ve...

PLA distortion at the top of tall heavy prints

I have had the printer since March of 2016 and have been very successful in printing with multiple materials, especially with the help of these forums! :) So I was printing with grey PLA using simplify 3D, .250 layer height, 4800 mm/min print speed (80mm/sec), 100% fan after 1st layer and noticed th...
