Re: M3-ID for soluble support materials?

I never really looked into HIPS before. It sounds like it's intended to be used with ABS, so I'm surprised the Limonene is bad for ABS. From what I read, HIPS gives off fumes like ABS, and I don't have enough ventilation for that. I tend to like PETG because it can tolerate higher temps than PLA, an...

M3-ID for soluble support materials?

Greetings, I've got an ancient M2, and I'm giving some thought to upgrading to a IDEX printer to be able to print soluble support material. I might print multiple colors once just to say I did it, but 95% of my interest in an IDEX machine would be for soluble support. There are very few posts about ...

Re: Weird noise coming from makergear M2 printer?

That's almost certainly the fan. Sometimes they make that noise when the bearings start to go out. Next time it's making the noise, tap the center of the fan and see if it stops, or at least changes tone momentarily. The good news is that the fan is easy to replace.

Cheers,
Rusty

Re: How cool is it to be able to print spare parts!

Makergear makes a new metal motor mount due to the cracking issue. http://www.makergear.com/collections/parts/products/metal-motor-mount If you want to print new parts PETG is a great alternative material for ABS. Thanks for the link to the motor mount. I read something about a metal mount, but for...

Re: How cool is it to be able to print spare parts!

Did you print your parts with ABS or PLA? I'm curious which is recommended, assuming it's ABS but I only have PLA. I didn't know how much longer the cracked mount would last, so I printed it with the PLA that was already set up in the machine. I printed 100% infill, and fully expected to use the PL...

How cool is it to be able to print spare parts!

Greetings, I've had my M2 since early 2013, though it was put away for a couple moves. I recently got it back out, did the upgrade to 24V and V4, and it's working well. During a few test prints, I heard a cracking noise, and started noticing a bobbing of the extruder. It turns out that the extruder ...

Re: Hatchbox TPU Filament Amazing but Goopy

Good timing. I have a roll of that sitting in my Amazon cart. I need to make an insert for not-so-great cup holder in my car, and I've been trying to decide if the TPU (and or petg) can stand occasional hot summer car temps. Unfortunately it's going to be a long time until I can test it (I hate wint...

Re: What's wrong with this print?

Thanks!! I finally got it now! I ended up putting my extrusion multiplier to 115%. Hmmmm, just noticed your post 13brv3. I'll see if it helps at all, and I'll reply back if it does. You didn't miss it. There was delay in the post appearing because I'm new to the forum, though not new to my 2013 pri...

Re: What's wrong with this print?

I'm certainly no expert, but isn't 215C too hot for PLA? Hatchbox lists 180C-210C as the range, and I've been printing their white PLA at 195C.

I'm sure you'll get it sorted out.

Cheers,
Rusty
