Re: M3 Probes Breaking

Can you post a link to the particulars of this conversion? https://www.precisionpiezo.co.uk/ - I'm not in any way sure how I'd go about adapting it on the m2 yet, but this is where I got the piezo setup for my custom built printer After trying going with no z probe, then a mechanical switch, then a...

Re: M3 Probes Breaking

Hey - to each his own - looks good though ed. The micro switch method is solid as well.

Re: M3 Probes Breaking

Did I see correctly that the m3 uses a bl touch? Oh man how I despise those things. One of the projects on my list is to convert my z-probe-less M2 to accept a piezo disk so the nozzle will act as the probe. I did a piezo conversion on my other printer and have to say that it’s the best z probe I ha...

Re: M2 rev.E - black z motor leadscrew pitch?

Hey thanks for that great idea. I actually had a noctua fan that was the exact right size for the psu laying around. I just put it in and the psu is at least 1000 times less noisy than it used to be. Awesome!

edit: ill upload the z spring when I upload the parts for adapting to the duet

Re: M2 rev.E - black z motor leadscrew pitch?

It’s definitey doable - if you decide to do it PM me and I can help by providing my configuration files for the duet. Also - I worked last night on the design for the duet cover, once that’s complete I’ll put the mounting adapters and the cover on thingiverse. Can you link me to the noctua fan you u...

Re: M2 rev.E - black z motor leadscrew pitch?

Here’s some pics of how the DuetWiFi is installed right now, please excuse the rats nest of wiring and the velcro band holding the wiring down. I had a hotend thermistor issue unrelated to the duet upgrade so I’m waiting on the replacement to arrive from Makergear, when I’m back operational again I ...

Re: M2 rev.E - black z motor leadscrew pitch?

Hey Alex. I’ll get you a couple pics tonight, it was dead simple, especially if you have worked with duet electronics in the past. I still have to design and print a new cover for the duet but to mount the board I designed and printed two very simple adapter rails. The adapter rails allow the duet t...

Re: M2 rev.E - black z motor leadscrew pitch?

I bet you are exactly right, just for the heck of it I’ll adjust the steps per mm slightly to align with that value and give it a try to see what happens. Thanks for the reply Ed, good to see you are still around the forum here.

Re: M2 rev.E - black z motor leadscrew pitch?

So to update on my issue: It’s the original marlin firmware from makergear for the M2 rev.E that sets the z steps per mm at 1007.7, 1/16 microstepping (just in case that was unclear). To get my new duet WiFi board working at 1/128 microstepping I used a value of 8061.6 steps per mm for the z axis. I...

M2 rev.E - black z motor leadscrew pitch?

I see the firmware sets the steps per mm to 1007.7 at 1/16th microstepping and I’m extremely curious as what exact leadscrew pitch produces this. What is this weird leadscrew? Using the prusa calculators and playing with numbers, it seems to me that this leadscrew is it has a 3.17555 pitch (this pro...
