Thanks very much for that - I'll give it a try at my first opportunity and report the results.

Re: Extruder calibration and fill problem
Hi airscapes, I just rechecked my numbers and I fat fingered this in the previous post. I'm getting .079" which converts to 2.006mm The printer is a Makergear M2 shipped circa 2012 with extensive upgrades bringing it up to a M2 Rev E. I also use a 1/4" MIC6 plate with PEI surface and a inductive pro...

Re: Extruder calibration and fill problem
Picture8.jpg Bottom fill is further improved - probably because of the reduction in first layer height - but not perfect. You can feel the discontinuities between extruded bottom filaments with your fingernail. Top fill is still not so great, with clear gaps between filaments. At this point I'm not...

Re: Extruder calibration and fill problem
Time for some updates to this and some clarifying pictures. I was able to run through all the suggestions so far. These have been helpful and have resolved a lot of the issue - but not quite all of it. This is the part that caused me to stop and recalibrate. It has sparse fill on the top and bottom,...

Re: Extruder calibration and fill problem
Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay in getting back to this - I didn't get a chance to really sit down and run through all of the suggestions, but I was able to do a couple of them. Unfortunately, they did not completely resolve the issues I'm having. First, drive tension: I checked the indentations fr...

Re: Extruder calibration and fill problem
Hi Ed, Thanks for the reply. I just checked the cube heights I have here with me, and the sparse filled one is coming in at 5.2mm and the high extrusion multiplier one is coming in at 5.1mm for a nominal 5mm height. They're coming in high, so you're probably right about starting too far from the bed...

Extruder calibration and fill problem
Hi everyone, I'm running into a problem which I haven't experienced before and which has me a bit baffled. After measuring actual filament diameter and calibrating the extruder by printing a single outline box and calculating the extrusion multiplier (rinse and repeat until specified width matches e...

Re: M2 vs Shapeways?
I happen to have a couple of little guys around that same size - in this case about 3.25 inches. Printed with .35mm nozzle and .16mm layer height (I think - might be .2mm or .24, I'm don't recall for sure). esun petg in translucent red. The models is a repaired version of an 18th dynasty pharaoh in ...

Re: Metal Motor Mount for Auto-leveling
I don't want to beat this to death, but I've uploaded an STL of the printable sensor bracket for those who'd like it. I haven't printed it yet, but it should work.
Personally, I think I'd still prefer the metal integrated sensor mount, so I may go that route after all. Is anyone else interested?
