Re: OctoPrint update 1.2.10 -> 1.3.0 failing

I've updated to 1.3.0 and used it with no problems, but I updated from the last release, which was 1.2.18. You may need to do a fresh install rather than an update. There is a helpful Octoprint FAQ here that covers various updating issues, including instructions on how to roll back to an earlier ver...

Re: BuildTak Spatula

I've been using one of these for a couple of months and I love it. The blade is sufficiently sharp to pry under most of my prints and and it slides smoothly between the print and the bed. Because the blade is mounted flat beneath the handle it is unlikely to gouge the print bed.

Re: PETG Infill Rot

Over the past week I was having lots of problems printing PETG -- nasty tangles on the third or fourth layer of a large print, and the nozzle was getting furry with clumps of filament, causing more messes. On day five I finally took a long look at the printer and realized that when I leveled the bed...

Re: S3D 3.1

What a fabulous tip! I run S3D on a Mac so I opened Terminal to see if curl was already installed and it was. (In Terminal, enter "curl -V" to see the version number. I have version 7.43.0. The latest version is 7.49.1.) Then in the S3D Preview window click “Save Toolpaths to disk” and wait a couple...

S3D 3.1

There’s a new release of Simplify3D. Release notes say that it supports 30 additional printers and has improved mesh repair ability. Apart from that, it “includes dozens of highly requested features and improvements.”

Re: The MakerGear Website - input requested

I think that you should tell people that this is a printer that is made and supported here in the USA by a company with old-fashioned values: quality, integrity and a restless pursuit of perfection. You can tell a lot about the printer by describing the people who make it.

Re: Print Settings for PETG: eSUN Solid Black Filament

The Zebra people firmly suggest that you should not exceed 80°C bed temperature with Zebra Skin. I had been printing PETG on a Zebra Plate with a bed setting of 87°, as recommended in this thread, but I backed the temperature down when I changed the bed to insta's MIC6 plate, covered with Zebra Skin...

Re: ** Pre-orders for MIC6 beds ** (FOR SALE NOW)

Mine arrived last night, looking great. I had to sweet-talk the Thingiverse bed clamps into fitting -- the plate is very snug -- but after a couple of tries and some well-chosen curses it worked fine.

Here's my Octopi Settings screen (I have a dual-extruder machine. If you have one extruder, adjust the last two settings.):

Re: Favorite Print Surface?

I have been printing PLA on the Zebra plate, and I love it. No heat necessary, PLA sticks tight and removes easily when the print is done. I’ve printed more than 50 pieces with perfect adhesion. Also though I’m currently not doing much with ABS I printed a coffee filter adapter for my wife, using a ...
