Re: MakerGear Forum Shutting Down

This bums me out. My M2 is still creating cool stuff all these years later and worth every penny I spent on it. Helping friends and businesses with cheap printers and expensive commercial machines have given me a great appreciation for the simple design of the M2. I haven't leveled the bed in !!YEAR...

Re: Print Settings for PETG: eSUN Solid Black Filament

A question for PETG users: how does it fair on a practical level if you try to saw it / drill it / tap holes? I'm using ABS because I love being able to machine it a bit afterward to get the bolt holes threaded and just the right diameters and such. Does 3d printed PETG do okay with this? PLA is ho...

Re: Advantages of M3 over M2

I agree with your sentiment. Sometimes I wish companies would place a button on their product details page that switches from marketing ejaculations to technical details and a true product demonstration video. There's little to no details on the web or demonstrations. I'll bet the m3 is a test bed/u...

Re: The State of the Gear

I'm interested in the upgrade from Rev. E. Just bought it a few months ago and am a potential M4 customer.

Re: Leveling the bed on rev. E

Noticed how you can bend each corner up enough with the slight touch of the corner adjustment tool to tighten your hold on adjustment shim? I suspect your dial indicator is putting pressure on the corners enough to throw off your measurements. Mine did. Put the dial indicator away and use a .005" .1...

Re: Octoprint, Custom Controls, and Bed Leveling

Is there not a command that sets the current machine Z position as the Z offset? Coming from real CNC machines, this read, type, write to eeprom, then home process is cumbersome. I guess it can be resolved in Octoprint with a plugin if there is not one already available. I didn't see it.

Re: Strange noise when full traveling the Z-axis

that page says " If you have one of the newer black Z motors, which has a plastic nut on the lead-screw do not apply grease. Check for and remove any built up up dust or other contaminants." Well, I JUST bought mine. My leadscrew nut bolted to the spider/bed support is metal. Yours plastic?

Filament slipping off extruder motor teeth/bearing...

The few failed prints I've had in the few weeks I've had the M2 require removing the extruder body and cleaning out the insides after the filament slips off the teeth/bearing and is slowly shredded by the corner of the hobbed gear. I am not overtightening the bolts and the filament guide tube is alw...

Re: Heavy parts & Platform Deflection?

not sure why it would deflect on that side unless it has to do with how the bead forms on the side which is slowly gaining nozzle gap distance (right). Measure the x0 and xMAX on the bed with a height gauge if you have one then throw the part on and measure it again

(Video) 2 of my nozzle/tube cleaning methods.

I just came up with 2 cleaning methods today that just work. The atomic method wasn't working for me, so I improvised.
