Re: MakerGear Forum Shutting Down

Thanks Rick and the MG team. You gave many of us a great gift and absolutely changed my life the past 8 years in terms of having my first exposure to the 3D printing world. I have made so many beautiful things, functional tools, and piles of spaghetti. :D My M2 is still pumping out PLA after all the...

Re: Flexible Magnetic Build Surface for the M2/M3

It has been a while, but I still come back to this post a few times a year to share it on the Facebook MG group and I just wanted to say that I still use this bed and have them on my other printers as well. I have also been using it extensively with PETG (75°C bed) for the past few years and it is a...

Re: M2 Level Help

You need to check your belt tension on the Y axis as well. If it is too loose or tight, you can get the axis essentially bouncing on the limit switch. it will make a horrid noise then start to run as expected, just like in your video. I have had the same happen on my x axis every now and again. I ca...

Re: @jhaupt in Wired!

That rotary cellphone was her?!?!?

:o

I saw that phone scroll quickly past on some tech news feed or email, but never clicked on it for more info. Nice article from Wired.

Glad you shared that Rick.

Re: Replica Statue

Nice work! I saw the pic before I finished reading the first post and I guessed the one on the left to be the original due to the retro pale jade green color. Of course, I finished reading your post and zoomed in on the pic. Interesting to read about the colorblindness and see the result and realize...

Re: .75mm Nozzle and print speed

Makers Muse on youtube in his cr10v2 review video posted just a day ago tried a 1mm nozzle. He discusses having to slow down the print speed because the hot end heater can’t keep up. One of my old printers (mpcnc) had a similar issue and I switched to a Volcano hot end which helped, but you still ha...

Re: Flexible Magnetic Build Surface for the M2/M3

Peter, I don’t know that I would change anything, at least I need nothing changed for my intended use. Now that I have spent time using this plate system, there is no way I am going back to the old glass bed and blue tape! It has been a major performance upgrade that took minimal effort compared to ...

Re: Flexible Magnetic Build Surface for the M2/M3

Steve, I have been pleased as well at how the PEX handles small isolated islands of printing, especially like you see in the first layer before the perimeters and infill start to combine those islands into one layer. I have been using the bed for two weeks now and am very happy so far. I have been m...

Re: Flexible Magnetic Build Surface for the M2/M3

Peter, I forgot to mention that I only tested PLA. I may run some PETG on it in the future. I will also try some Ninjaflex when I have a call for it. I do not print ABS at all. I usually run my bed at 50°C for PLA. PLA can be run without a heated bed, so I figured I would drop down even more during ...

Re: Flexible Magnetic Build Surface for the M2/M3

So, there is another placeI deviated a bit from the instructions. I did rub the PEX with the included steel wool, but I wanted more filament grip. So I changed to a plastic scuffing pad. I used a maroon 3M Scotchbrite pad like these. They are about a 600 grit. It performs about like 00 or maybe 000 ...
