Re: Calibration Cube Issue - S3D
I'm still not sure what is going on here, which you can translate to "I never solved the problem but just learned to accept it." Two brands of regular PLA, another 'enhanced' PLA, and then an old and a new roll of PET-G I tried all do it. Fussing with things seems to affect X/Y/Z dimensions but I ca...

Re: Has anyone changed the fan in their power supply?
A hah! I was using one of those nice looking 3 to 2 pin adapters that came with the 40mm fans..what I did not see under all the pretty heat shrink was that the +/- polarity was reversed from the original fan. I had thought if that were the case, it would simply run in reverse, but I was talking to o...

Re: Has anyone changed the fan in their power supply?
Should the Noctua just drop right in? I put the same 60mm model linked above on last night and it's dead in the water. Old fan still spins up, so the power is there...

Re: Failure Mode Of/Upgrading Z-Stepper?
Just curious, for those of you who have had failures after going 24v - how did your motors fail? I'll consider myself lucky then...when I was forking over the cash for the 24v/V4 and a few other odds and ends I was considering selling it to a relative who didn't have the cash for a new M2, and just ...

Re: Failure Mode Of/Upgrading Z-Stepper?
No physical contact, that I could tell at least. Limit switch is old and a possible culprit. That said, I've have a pretty old one - shipped to me in late 2012. It is the original motor, and it gets VERY hot while working. I recall reading it was normal, that it could be helped with a firmware adjus...

Failure Mode Of/Upgrading Z-Stepper?
The past few days I've been getting some weird behavior from the Z-axis and have been thinking maybe the motor is starting to give up - I've been getting some false 'homing' where I'll be printing parts sequentially, it will finish one and when it re-homes to start the next, it will hit the limit sw...

Re: Calibration Cube Issue - S3D
I was using the 4800 mm/min that was set by default. Dropped to 3600...no difference. For the hell of it I printed one at 2000; and it was in fact better. But, yeah, agonizingly slow! On the left, with just a slight amount of gaps as you can see, multiplier 1.00 and on the right I jumped to 1.06. Ma...

Re: Calibration Cube Issue - S3D
Uninstalled S3D 3.1.0 and went back to 2.2.2, ran a half dozen of the test pieces with varying multiplier and filament settings. They all are identical to each other, and all the prior pieces I've posted photos of. I'm ordering some new PLA, but honestly I can't see how this would actually be a fila...

Re: Calibration Cube Issue - S3D
Checked the gear - drive is tight, gear shows no visible wear, teeth aren't gooped up. "Bite" looks good. Checked the box and re-ran the test cubes. Nothing seems to affect the outcome still, no change with multiplier between .90 and 1.06, filament diameter set between 1.75 and 1.50 or any combinati...
