Re: M2 Purchasing Itinerary

One thing no one's mentioned is storing filament. If humidity is high where you live you will want some sort of humidity control. PLA (and ABS? I'm not sure) can absorb moisture from the air and then prints get funky. I live in Florida and rarely use my AC, so this is a major concern. I keep my unus...

Re: Flexible filament on Kickstarter

I've got three spools of Polymakr filament from a Kickstarter campaign coming soon...hopefully...including flexible. The Zen filament is tempting too. Seems like there has been an explosion of different FFF filament types and manufacturers over the last 6 months or so. Yeah, not to mention a new su...

Re: How many 3d printers do you have?

I just have the one M2 but I would like another FFF printer. I'm printing molds that have lots of parts and while each part fits on the bed and prints quickly, there are a lot of them and it can take a while to print the entire mold. In my case another printer = double my speed. The M2 is an obvious...

Flexible filament on Kickstarter

Here's a project I just backed, claiming 40-50 mm/sec feed rates. I didn't do any research beyond the kickstarter page. Anyway there are still some 1kg spools for $30 available. Shipping only to US though. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zentoolworks/zen-toolworks-flexible-3d-printing-filament

Re: Why does my top layer look like this?

Can you post the .factory file? That would help troubleshoot the problem.

The .factory file is what you get from File->Save (or ctrl-s) in S3D. Also, you'll have to put it in a zip file in order to post it on the board.

Re: Trefoil Knot Mold

Are you planning on open sourcing TobyCad :-) I would love to check it out and see how it works...what do you intend to do with it? No plans to open source the current version. There's a version of Openscad for Javascript that has a similar idea. You can check it out here: http://www.thingiverse.co...

Good job. I think the test shows your idea works. I'm surprised the black abs bonded well enough to allow you to sand it down that much without coming loose.

Re: Need some advice on how to respond

I seem to be out of step here, but I would not recommend selling the M2 as a hobbyist machine for early adopters. It has gone beyond that. You do not have to be a tinkerer or want to develop the state of the art in order to use it very successfully and consistently. To me this is its great selling p...
