Re: Flexible Magnetic Build Surface for the M2/M3

Having been accepted into the beta I installed the Wham Bam Systems flexible build plate this weekend and tried a few tests. My 5 year old 24V V3b extruder M2 has been heavily modified from stock - I was a tester of the dual extruder upgrade, but eventually went back to a single V4 extruder so I cou...

Re: Firmware Origin Dual

Way back when I did the experimental dual extruder upgrade for my M2 I believe I ran into the issue you're talking about and solved it by designing a replacement belt clamp that would set the X=0 location so that the left nozzle would be on the bed. I posted the design for it here: https://www.thing...

Re: Timelapse mod for the M2/3 with Octoprint?

That would also work, but would slow down the print because of the vanity travels, and also wouldn't be good at all in vase mode. I guess I was thinking of something more opportunistic - the picture wouldn't necessarily be taken at the very beginning of each layer (but do you really care), it would ...

Timelapse mod for the M2/3 with Octoprint?

I was thinking that one thing the movable bed on the Y axis does not do well is allow for a timelapse of the print and had a thought. I believe that OctoPrint captures one image per layer to create the timelapse. What if there was a sensor under the bed which triggered when the Y axis was maybe in t...

Re: Error:Heating failed, system stopped!

Since the wiring was brought into question I opened the machine and did some digging. Unless it's really well hidden I didn't see any molten connectors or residue. The machine is in my basement with no real drafts or air movement, but is about 60F. I also measured the resistance of my old/new beds. ...

Re: Error:Heating failed, system stopped!

I had one of the original 24V heated beds which didn't have a great strain relief and just a few weeks ago replaced it with the newer version. I hadn't printed anything but PLA for at least a year and with some recent upgrades thought I'd give EPC a try, so this was the first time I was heating the ...

Re: (Edit) Really bummed....

I had a similar experience for different reasons this last week after a friend and I modified my M2 from a V4 dual config to a single V4 which has a BLTouch bed leveling sensor - as part of this I installed a slightly customized extruder body which my friend printed out of polycarbonate. When I trie...

Re: The GearMaker M2 Kit for Newbie?

OK, bigger models than I thought. The M2 was/is my first printer and I too chose the kit option, not to save money but because I wanted the experience of doing it. My attitude is that if I received it all built and tested I'd have been intimidated about making any changes to it, but if I put it toge...
