Re: Garnier Fructis Extra Hold Hairspray Discontinued!
Suave Extreme Hold I've been using the same bottle of Suave Max Hold spray basically forever. It's only an 8, rather than 10, on their hold scale, but I have no idea what that means in terms of 3D printing. It has the key advantage of being in a pump bottle, rather than a pressurized can, so it doe...

Re: M2 RevE Z stepper steps per mm
measure the space between the theads, Use the caliper's internal jaws (the pointy ones opposite the external jaws) for this. Count off and mark four threads (= one rotation of the leadscrew, assuming [0] it has four starts), eyeballometrically [1] center one pointy jaw's point atop each marked thre...

Re: M2 RevE Z stepper steps per mm
1007.7 seems like a very odd number Because it comes from a hard-inch leadscrew: https://forum.makergear.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6953&p=37562&hilit=1007.7#p37559 Comments in source code rarely match the actual code after many fingers have messed with the details, so even this may no longer be corre...

Re: M2 rev.E - black z motor leadscrew pitch?
T8 with a pitch of 2mm and lead of 8mm The number you want is "how far does one rotation of the leadscrew move the Z axis", which is the thread's "lead": 8 mm. Wikipedia is your copilot: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screw_thread#Lead,_pitch,_and_starts Use a Sharpie to confirm the diagnosis: https...

Re: Bed Dropping
A little over a year ago, I did a major upgrade to all current hardware and firmware. Not long after that, this issue started Measure the winding resistance. If it's more than a few ohms, they sold you a crap replacement motor: https://softsolder.com/2013/04/10/makergear-m2-z-axis-stepper-motor/ ht...

Re: M2 just stops printing/moving
If it's a short or an open circuit, that's the problem A failing thermistor starts out intermittent, so the resistance will seem perfectly normal almost all the time. That's why it can start printing, then fail at some random point along the way. Finding the error message confirms the diagnosis. Th...

Re: M2 just stops printing/moving
I don't think the nozzle is hot Replace the hot end thermistor. The other possibility is an almost-broken wire in the cable from the thermistor to the RAMBo board, due to all the flexing, but replacing the thermistor is where you start. Somewhere in the torrent of printer messages, you'll likely fi...

What options are there besides $$new printer? Perhaps adding a spring to apply consistent force to the idler: https://forum.makergear.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6774&p=36952&hilit=spring+extruder#p36948 Also, make sure the motor / gearbox drive gear all turn together: https://softsolder.com/2020/07/09...

Re: RAMBo Version?
MakerGear is using RAMBo Version 1.4 boards Wisely is it written: Hell hath no fury like that of an unjustified assumption. [grin] PXL_20210831_160657037 - Makergear M2 RAMBo version 1.1b.jpg Stipulated, mine is an old old M2, shipped long before MG had any notion of version numbers or serial numbe...

Re: RAMBo Version?
The board has a version legend somewhere near the MEGA chip telling you the revision. You can compare what you see with doc for the boards: https://reprap.org/wiki/Rambo The linkie near the top produces this page for V 1.4: https://reprap.org/wiki/Rambo_v1.4 Unless you have a compelling need for a n...
