Re: M2 nightmare with soft filiment

A printed sleeve is going to be very difficult to make precise enough to get a good press fit. You also don't want to introduce ANY diameter variations that will make it feed unevenly. It might work OK for soft filament, but if you want it to work with more rigid material, I suspect it may wear qui...

Re: PETG Perimeter Separation

Let us know how you make out and if I learn anything interesting about PETG this weekend I will post. I just recently bought a new caliper myself, the old one was not always reliable .. got of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AQEZ2W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also what pr...

Re: PETG Perimeter Separation

I know this post is old, but I'm curious if a solution was ever found? I'm having the same exact issue. I'm printing parts to build a D-bot so I want to have everything print as high quality as possible. I'm using PETG and I've upped my Infill Overlap from 10 to 15 and then to 18 and its still givi...

Re: M2 nightmare with soft filiment

I have a dead housing with the factory bearing in it. It looks like there is about 3/4 of a mm clearance of each side (~ 17.5 mm ID). So, you could make the OD of the sleeve 17 mm, and the bottom of the groove 16 mm (1/2 mm deep). You might have to shave down the OD a tiny bit from that to fit in a...

Re: M2 nightmare with soft filiment

Also, it's only going to be ~ 1 mm thick at the bottom of the groove. The rest of it will be at least a half a mm thicker. If the original bearing has a Diameter of 16mm and this replacement is 14mm, then 1mm thickness band all the way around the bearing will make the diameter 16mm, right? Which le...

Re: M2 nightmare with soft filiment

I just measured it a little while ago and yes, I see that it is all over the place and I did see your mod last night and was planning on checking my little box of springs. That is something can do with out much effort and it makes a lot of sense! I would love to try and mimic Dave design in the ima...

Re: M2 nightmare with soft filiment

For softer filaments (TPU,TPE) I suggest the following setup. Suspend your filament above the printer and "gravity feed". Use a .50 nozzle. Print at about 600 mm/min. Generally speaking, you should get great results as long as everything is in good working order. Thanks Jason, I did figure out that...

Re: M2 nightmare with soft filiment

I redesigned the stock drive to have a hinge and use springs for tension (see http://forum.makergear.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3283) and I never have to adjust tension when switching between any filaments anymore. I've never run EPA but I don't have any problems running flex stuff.... like mentioned...

Re: M2 nightmare with soft filiment

My issue is the extruder drive design not the settings. I was running cleaning filament and following the manufactures instructions. This issue is the filament jams up in the drive. To much or too little tension and nothing to hold the filament in line if it starts to push out to the side. Then ther...

trying to reach Dave OVER-$-PENT

He has a slick replacement filament drive and bearing sleeve but has not been logged in since April. I have a PM sitting in the outbox.
Anyone know if he resides on other boards where I might have a better chance of getting hold of him?

Thanks!
