Re: V4 Hot End tech details?
Thanks again for the input Gwhite. Yes, it was from having seen another post on this forum -- with a photo showing heat creep and molten filament there at the top end of the V4 -- that some of my concern arose regarding the V4's suitability in this application I've got in mind (for which it was neve...

Re: V4 Hot End tech details?
As far as I know you're quite correct sthone, though in fact from most peoples' perspectives we are still "back in the day"! The V4 uses a design which I'd never come across before, with its fragile but essential little heat break and the way it's been physically de-coupled from the extruder above i...

Re: V4 Hot End tech details?
Sorry Ed, looks like my reply to you evaporated. Trying again ... Thanks once more, I'm quite impressed with the replies and level of understanding on the forum. My limited experience running the Nimble has been very positive. Early testing was done by two of my printer gurus, Michael Hackney (posit...

Re: V4 Hot End tech details?
Thanks so much sthone, that would be wonderful!... you probably won't need one either.
Apologies to all for the lag in replies, still under the mod's approval each time.

Re: V4 Hot End tech details?
Thanks again Ed! I'm quite impressed with the replies and level of understanding on the forum. My limited experience running the Nimble has been very positive -- IIRC some of the beta testing had been done by Simon of Precision Piezo (running Duet on his delta), the primary bottleneck in the extrude...

Re: V4 Hot End tech details?
Thank you Gwhite, yes I have been aware of that in the design -- and why it's such a bad idea to try to switch nozzles in situ! :o It's my hope that this nice little heat break performs well and keeps the top cool. I'd certainly prefer to run the thing without a hot end fan, but if it does prove nec...

Re: V4 Hot End tech details?
Thanks insta! Of course, 30:1 is way overkill as far as providing torque -- I believe that's just the best compromise the designers of the Zesty Nimble were able to arrive at with their remote drive cable. In any case, thus far it's worked beautifully for me. And thank you for the feedback on the V4...

Re: V4 Hot End tech details?
Hi Ed, thanks so much for the reply and feedback. Very helpful information. I'll be using a Zesty Nimble remote drive extruder with which I've been very pleased, this has a 30:1 gear reduction. I'm doing my best to keep the effector assembly as light as possible of course, and as I do so enjoy watch...

V4 Hot End tech details?
I very much like the form factor of the V4 hot end and am quite eager to attempt incorporating one into the design of my current project, a large delta build. Realizing that it's not designed for this, I'd appreciate hearing from MakerGear users regarding the following (or anything else!). I'd like ...
