Re: looking to purchase a M2 but am getting discouraged

The M2 accepts G code which is the standard language for programming CNC machines. There are many programs that generate G code and they all have advantages and disadvantages. If you are going to spend the money to get this machine do yourself a favor and buy Simplify3D. It is a powerful addition to...

Re: Crack CNC Mill

Ok, look guys, I don't disagree that one needs to be careful, but not everyone is an idiot. My background is in physics and I'm perfectly aware of what lasers can do. I've been working with lasers since 1968. Not one accident or injury in 47 years. If one has the proper training then they are no mor...

Re: Crack CNC Mill

Oh man. Don't get Ed started on the dangers of unenclosed high power lasers
Well, you don't have to be stupid.

You don't stand in front of a gun someone shoots, either, well, more than once.

Re: Just got my printer -- Motors will not work

With it came three different notes saying "the machine works, do not modify it, call us instead". If that is the attitude of the company when they sell an assembled machine, than it should provide the complete package Really? That doesn't sound like the Makergear described on this forum. I guess th...

Re: Just got my printer -- Motors will not work

The Affinia is a good example. I've never used one, but based on hearsay, I believe you must use their filaments, you must use their software, you cannot control temperatures, it always generates support, and always uses a raft. I can believe that their bed adhesion works very well, but that's a lo...

Re: Crack CNC Mill

Yeah, ok. For my first venture into the CNC world I wanted something that was not too expensive but had the potential to do real work. I don't have a lot of information on the Shapeoko3, so whatever I say here comes from reading on the net which we all know never contains any mis-information....

Re: Crack CNC Mill

@jsc

Yes, I have the X-carve, no, no M2 Yet!

There was a split after the Shapeoko2. one group went to Shapeoko3. the other went to X-carve.

Be glad to discuss it with you if you have questions. This forum is probably not the best place for it. Send me a PM and we can set up a com path.

Re: Crack CNC Mill

I had intended to upgrade my 3D printing capability with an M2, however, it took forever for the V4 to come out and instead of integrating it into the product it remains an upgrade, so I bought one of these https://www.inventables.com/technologies/x-carve instead. Now I can add and subtract, just no...

Re: M2 Frame Vibration Dampeners

stability of the nozzle with respect to the platform
I agree with that to a point, however, if belt tension can bow the upper support of the frame, stability of the nozzle with respect to the platform is already questionable.
