Re: PLA curling up from bed
This is not ABS, it's PLA.

Re: PLA curling up from bed
So you think the bubbling up to about a centimeter from the bottom is fundamentally caused by bed adhesion and not too much bed heat?

PLA curling up from bed
Last night I printed a Google Glass case for a friend (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:297975). First I'll say that I paid about the same for my MakerGear M2 kit as he paid for his Google Glass and I think I got a way better deal. I used Simplify3D to slice this and used the default settings for my...
Re: Octoprint
One thing I just found out that many seem not to be away of is that the Raspberry Pi camera comes as a fixed focus which doesn't focus close enough if you're planning to mount it to the M2, but the lens does actually screw adjust, they just glued it in place and with a little force (some say from a ...

Filament end sensor
I had been wondering how people allow for the remaining filament left on a spool for big prints and wondered if you basically just plan for a ruined print at the end of a roll. Then I saw this on Thingiverse: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:299690 It seems like a good idea for an enhancement for th...
Re: Octoprint
I've been using it, seems to work pretty well though sometimes it's a little laggy. I actually like the fact that you submit the files to print via the web interface - I slice the files on my main laptop, but I wouldn't want to keep my laptop tethered to the printer waiting for a print, so OctoPrint...

Anyone have a good Raspberry Pi/camera case to attach to M2?
I'm setting up a Raspberry Pi with camera as an Octoprint server to control the MakerGear M2 and need a case design. Does anyone know of a good case model which mounts on the M2 and holds the camera in a good position to view the print bed? I haven't yet found anything compelling on Thingiverse, but...

Scored a free spool of white ABS filament
I work almost across the street from the MakerBot store in CT and after an entire week with my M2 I was starting to think about trying some ABS. I asked a salesperson if they had anything printed with ABS and he told me they stock both ABS and PLA for sale, but they are only demoing PLA. I told him ...

Fan bearing sound on the electronics case fan
When I first power up my M2 the electronics case fan sounds like it has a defective bearing, pretty bad. The only thing that makes me think it might NOT be defective is that once I connect to the printer it quiets down. So it seems to be that either the fan is defective or the power it receives on p...

Re: M2 Tips
I'll add one - it worked out OK, but if I was doing it over again once I confirmed I knew how the assembly of the idler bolts would go I'd have screwed the bolt into the frame before I put the bearings and clip on - that way I could tighten the bolt with any old adjustable wrench instead of using ne...
