The fans draw on the order of 100ma or less. 24 ga wire is PLENTY large for that current.
Smaller wire will make soldering/wiring more difficult.
Existing wiring I believe is 22 ga, but could be 24.

Assuming you have a new printer ... the glass sheet comes with yellow Kapton film on one side. Just let the platform cool before you try removing the part and be careful not to cut the film.
