Re: V4 Hot End and Flexible Filament

Yeah, that's an odd shape, but it's the same with with both extruder assemblies. The PolyFlex just finished. I printed at 40mm/sec (recommended 30-60mm/sec). When I printed the NinjaFlex, it was at about 33mm/sec, so maybe that was pushing it too fast. If I go down to 20mm/sec, I bet that would work...

V4 Hot End and Flexible Filament

I've used both NinjaFlex and PolyFlex in the V4 hot end, and with both filaments I've had problems with the flament getting wrapped around the extruder gear (see photo). It happens mostly when I'm feeding the filament into the hot end, but with NinjaFlex it has happened while printing as well, even ...

Re: Don Foley Astrolabe Tree Ornament

Thanks. It was my first print using PolyMakr's PolyMax filament (PLA based), and I was impressed with the detail. I expected it to be a little more oozy than it was, more like PET, but it wasn't bad at all. If Jim makes one of these, I hope he'll post the finished product (hint). I definitely need t...

Don Foley Astrolabe Tree Ornament

Don Foley is offering this Christmas tree ornament free in his print store (http://donfoley.com/3d-printing/3d-print-store). The quality of his designs are top notch. I've got some gluing and finishing to do, but that's a job for next weekend. I thought I'd show the unfinished, loose fitted assembly...

Re: skull business card holder

I took Jim's advice on an Iwata-Medea airbrush, and even at my low skill level, I can tell it is superior to the old Paasche airbrush I had decades ago. I bought the same airbrush you are considering, but bought a Sparmax TC-2000 compressor. I was told by my local art supply store that they are comp...

Re: skull business card holder

dave, iwata doesnt make anything cheap or junky. its a top of the line company. the airbrush you are looking at is just going to be way overkill for what your doing. thats for real fine and hairline detail. its too fine for general use. that and the micron is more of a fine mural airbrush. their en...

Re: skull business card holder

Thanks john. This was the first time i used pla in months. Abs would have just warped a little too much on something this large. For airbrushes i use all iwata. The badger and paasche are really more for tshirts. Jim, I've been looking at airbrushes for models, mostly. Some 3D prints, some RC model...

Re: So, what do we think about dual extrusion after a month?

...On the other hand, I've been waiting for some rolls of filament to come in from the PolyMakr startup that I gave some money to on Kickstarter earlier in the year. They came through as promised, I just got the filament delivered to me this evening... That's good news. I kicked in some money to Po...
