Re: Really Getting Started - Purchase Decision

I bought a pre-built M2 about 2 1/2 months ago. I also had no hands on experience with 3D printing but was reasonably tech savvy and educated as to how these things worked. The thing that was most important to me was to buy something that would have me up and running quickly without hassles. I didn'...

Re: Smithsonian Institution Digitized Artifacts

Very appropriate size cue in the pic.

I downloaded Abe (the 15 mb version) and am printing him now at 30% scale.

Re: Changing Filament Mid Print?

i guess even with the 1 minute timeout you could stay alive by jogging a mm in x or y every 45 seconds while you're working on installing the new filament.

Re: Uploading attachments?

Unfortunately it seems to reject files with different suffixes like .fff, .factory, .stl etc. The workaround (from Will) is to put it in a zip file and post that. I just tried manually changing a suffix (from .obj to .zip in my case) and attaching it here. Seems to work. But then you'd have to be cl...

Re: Changing Filament Mid Print?

It may be as simple as clicking "Pause Print" in S3D and moving the nozzle using the jog commands, then changing the filament and priming it by extruding some (also with the jog commands). I don't see a "Restart SD print" button, but maybe the pause button turns into a restart button after you press...

Re: Newegg replacement fans for M2?

The fans are under the "Gear->Spare Parts" tab on the main Makergear page. There's a drop down menu near the bottom of the page which lists a lot of stuff, uncluding 40 and 5mm fans. My understanding of the fan situation is that MG now has the correct voltage ball bearing fans for 24v systems. This ...

Bed fan colliding with print

Watch out for the bed fan colliding with models when printing several models sequentially in the same print. (In S3D this is done with merging processes and choosing the sequential option when generating gcode.) I had a print this morning with 5 models and the first 3 were fine but on the 4th the no...

Re: Forum Settings

So if you can't upload the format you want directly, then just .zip it up and upload the attachment. Nice trick. That should get us up and running with different attachments. I'm still hoping there's a forum setting that will allow us to upload .fff and .factory and .stl and whatever else we need w...
