Re: Poor horizontal-supported surfaces.
I reprinted this with a "process" layer for the problem area. I configured the outline shells set to 100 so there would be no infill in that area and also reduced speed a about 25% as well as set the supports as "insta" suggested. As can be seen from the picture it is much better, indicating that th...

Re: Noob 101 - Designing your own parts
E) Oh..one other thing...what do you guys think are the top 3 repositories to find complete/free models you can just download and print? My minds been going a mile a minute with all the stuff to print...was thinking about a simplistic wind turbine since I have about 4-5 dc motors just lying around....

Re: Poor horizontal-supported surfaces.
Any reason you aren't using the version of the part with the built in support? The print pictured was done with the built-in support, I have tried both. I think I see what is going on. The mostly horizontal surface is at an angle and, perhaps, a slight bow - so the layers would be "terraced" in som...

Re: Poor horizontal-supported surfaces.
If you look at the gcode preview for that file, you will see that the layers want to curve in and start doing a little wiggle over the support on each layer. Wiggles over a support would seem a bad idea, is there any way to stop that? I think that is the pattern seen, even when printed over the "bu...

Poor horizontal-supported surfaces.
On several models that have horizontal or near horizontal overhang I am getting an odd pattern of single threads, even with support (See picture - center of Guantlet). I know this is the "big challenge" of FFF, I am looking for advice to make it better. The model I am using to illustrate this is the...

Re: Difference In Printed Cubes
Interesting! As for the movement of the filament, not my area of expertise at all - but I would think the movement would be largely governed by the largest radius with which it comes in contact - this would not change. Of course in theory, theory in practice are the same - but in practice they are d...

What???
The pressure would change the shape of the filament but not the amount, so unless there is slippage it should not change the extruder multiplier.

Re: Different Versions of Extruders
While I have not needed to yet, the time may come when I want to clean or change the V4 nozzle. Question is, how? The nozzle its self fits a 12mm wrench, but I don't see anything on the other side that would fit a wrench and would not want to break anything. The other side is all covered in the heat...

For the POP mail configuration. There is something special you have to set in DNS to enable auto configuration of mail servers. I don't remember the specifics, but I'm sure you could find it without much trouble. Of course, this assumes you (or a sysadmin) can modify the DNS.
