Bed Fan Duct
In the process of updating to an E3Dv6 hot end. As this requires a new extruder mount I decided to try a duct for my 50mm bed fan. I have attached a few shots of the design. Thoughts/comments/suggestions? I am not convinced that a bed fan duct really helps cooling or improves print performance but i...

Re: nema17 dampers
Following up on my earlier comment with regard to the effect on accuracy... printed my first calibration object since installing the dampers. X and Y are within +/- 0.15 mm. There are CNC machines that struggle to maintain that accuracy. No discernable effect on practical accuracy.

Calibration Object
There are many good calibration objects available in the cyber ether but I thought I would make a contribution to the pool. Most of the items I print are functional/mechanical in nature so accuracy is very import as the parts must fit well with their respective mates. This little calibration object ...

Flexible Filament - ColorFabb nGen_FLEX
New filament announced today from ColorFabb; flexible co-polyester with a Shore A hardness of 90 and stable at 125°C. Looks interesting.

Re: nema17 dampers
The descriptions do not due justice to the magnitude of the change. Simply shocking. Seems like the printer is now powered by magic. Unseen (or unheard) forces glide the bed and extruder to and fro.

Re: Stabilize Your Printer Bench
Granite and Portland cement have about the same density. I think Insta's recommendation would work well enough for the mass but there are two factors at work in using the surface plate to stabilize the printer. The first is the mass but the second is the contact between the feet of the printer and t...

Re: nema17 dampers
I have ordered a set of dampers, eager to evaluate. The only question I have relates to the effect on positional accuracy. Most dampers of this type have two rigid elements connected by a flexible elastomeric. Many will restrict motion in two or more of the six degrees of normal freedom. Some have n...

Stabilize Your Printer Bench
I have noted M2 owners mentioning in several posts that their printers jump around, the bench or table on which it rests shakes, etc. I experienced this as well even though mine rested on a substantial solid wood work bench. Reducing the acceleration as recommended here in the forums helped with thi...

Re: Waves at Corners
The NEMA 17 dampers look promising, if for nothing more than the noise reduction. If the stepper frequencies happen to sweep over the natural frequency of the bed gantry and sprung bed I can see how it could cause print anomalies. Ordered dampers tonight. In doing more research on the topic (referre...
