S3d Default profile

Why doesn't S3D ship with a default profile for the MakerGear that prints well? Every new owner has to come here and ask about layer shifting and then adjust their speeds. Every new user has to wonder why their support material breaks off the bed and then learns to add pads. Every new user gets lots...

Re: Build plate height differences

Mine is 1/4" thick, which I believe is what everyone else is using. I think they were being sold for ~$100 pre-made. I bought a pair of mic6 plates on eBay for something like $25 delivered and then shaved down 2 edges on my mill for a perfect fit (and I've got a spare). Not everyone's got a mill, so...

Re: Build plate height differences

Switching to a mic6 build plate is one of the best mods that I've done. Not only is the bed perfectly flat all across the surface, but the superior heat-conduction of aluminum means that my prints stick nearly as well in the corners as they do in the center (unlike glass). I've even got some thermal...

Re: Etxruder and nozzle sharing

I bought the cleaning filament, but never had a good experience with it. Like I said PLA to PETG is effortless. The reverse can be tricky. What I do now is when unloading a PLA color, I set temp to 88C AFTER printing (so the whole hot-end is heat-soaked), then retract. Invariably it comes out with a...

Etxruder and nozzle sharing

My M2 has always allowed me to swap filament colors or empty rolls effortlessly while printing. Just let it print and snip the old filament or let the spool run out and chase the old filament down the hole with the new one. Easy peasy. 3x in the last week, I got a jam while attempting to do this. I ...

Re: Unexpected y-axis shift mid print

Ok, this pains me but I have to circle back on this. Changing ONLY the acceleration values(down to 1500) solved the shifting problem for me, and kept it solved for years. I just rebuilt my S3D computer and the issue returned when printing a large battery organizer. I'm making a bunch of these and th...

Re: Unexpected y-axis shift mid print

Updating a very old thread. I printed for a few years with no issues by simply reducing the acceleration values as described in the post above. I just had to rebuild my computer last week, and performed a fresh install of S3D, using the default profile. Surprise, surprise, got the same Y-axis shift ...

Re: MIC6 preorder number 3 *back for sale*

And here is a picture of the mic6 bed with PEI installed. Notice how much more uniform the temps are and this is with only 2 clips instead of 3 (I need more large binder clips). I thought that the aluminum bed might not need the clips since it's so heavy compared to the thinner glass bed, but they m...

Re: MIC6 preorder number 3 *back for sale*

I cut a mic6 bed today, I decided to get some thermal images of the old glass/PEI bed as well as the new aluminum/PEI bed. Here's the picture of the glass/PEI bed stabilized at 60c, You can see how uneven the heat is. The dark splotch in the middle of the white-hot area (slightly left) is where a ch...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3

It was not the SD card, it's a wifi issue. I moved the image to a new card, same problem. I removed the wifi card and plugged the pi directly into the switch and it's perfect. I think the router may have to go back to the previous firmware, but that's a problem for another day. Thanks for the help. ...
