Anyone design a decent filament monitor?
I'm using up a crummy old spool of white PLA (keeps cracking on the spool). I find myself going to the printer every ten minutes to see if it's time to swap to the next spool before it runs out, but of-course the last 1% of a spool lasts forever when you WANT it to run out. It made me wonder if anyo...

Re: S3D Heated bed temp setpoint disappearing
Jules, yes that's what I was doing. The only difference was that I was changing the temp on Layer 3 rather than 2. Which made me wonder.... I added my new setpoint at layer 2 instead of 3 (which I had been trying to do MANY times) and it stuck. Then I added another setpoint at layer 3 and it stuck a...

S3D Heated bed temp setpoint disappearing
On my PETG profile, I have two different temp setpoints for the extruder, works fine. When I add a second setpoint for the bed (to turn off bed-heat after the first few layers stick) it works fine, BUT the next time I open S3D the second bed temp setpoint is missing. This is regardless of whether I ...

Re: Perfect Print Pry Up Tool for PEI, MIC6 or bare glass
Good idea.
I use a regular paint scraper, but I sharpened the top surface only to make it a bit thinner. Works great and doesn't damage the build surface.
cheers,

Re: best add on control panel
I've still never seen the Rev. E bed. Are there pictures and instructions somewhere? Is it available as an upgrade? What does it cost?
+1 for Octopi, it rocks.

Re: DIY Laser
wmgeorge,
which machine did you get? Is it this one?

Can it cut acrylic, or just engrave? If so, how thick?

Re: ABS or PETG
ABS gets a bad rap. It does smell, but it gives a beautiful satin finish that doesn't look cheap and shiny like PLA or PETG, it's temperature stable and has good impact resistance. I've also printed some fairly big stuff with no enclosure and no problems (7" dia, 4" tall). Most of the time though, P...

Re: Length of a new spool? Determining amount of filament le
Go by weight. I've never run out since I started doing that. The Hatchbox spools (my most common) weigh about 225gr. Most others are close, 205-225gr is the usual range. As I get to the bottom of the spool, I tend to have the weight scrawled on the side in sharpie, so for prints where color doesn't ...
