Re: Printed rod Strength

This was to replace the stock spool holder on my M2 with a 2 part bearing setup.. Bearing is 1/2" ID so rod needed to be 1/2 and round.

Printed rod Strength

I have never read about anyone doing this, so I figure I would share. I was designing a new spool mount for my M2 that would use bearings. There are lots of spool center deigns on the web but I needed the mount. After reinventing the spool center, as I wanted to design it myself, I was going to buy ...

Re: M2's repeatedly stop extrusion mid-print

Thanks for everyone's thoughtful and speedy responses. I like the idea of adding a thin brass tube at the bottom. We have tweaked the design of the filament drive a bit which I think has extended the life of drives, but like you mentioned - they're plastic so they will eventually wear out. The fila...

Re: M2's repeatedly stop extrusion mid-print

They are made of plastic and they wear out no doubt about it. I got one off of the net some years ago which is better for TPU than the stock model, I have attached it. The other thing that fails is the drive gear on the extruder motor, it slips.. If when you remove the filament from a failed print a...

Re: Alternative to Simplify3D Machine Control Panel?

When you have a factory file with multiple copies, yes you have to remove them add them. But to change the process, you can group them, make your change to one and they are all changed. Leave them grouped or remove the group..does not matter unless you want to change just one process different than ...

Re: Alternative to Simplify3D Machine Control Panel?

I have used octoprint for years and still do. I have replaced the Rambo board with a Duet 2 which has a built in Web interface that is excellent, but I still have octoprint connected to use the webcam. A Raspberry pi and octoprint works great with all slicers, is very inexpensive to buy a pi and it ...

Re: Where is the Makergear User Community?

From what I have read, they are selling their machines to schools and such.. I still love my M2 but when I describe it to someone, I say it is like that 1959 Cast Iron Table Saw we had in High School wood shop. Worked like a bear but no bells or whistles and you had to know how to use it... Was not ...

Re: Garnier Fructis Extra Hold Hairspray Discontinued!

I guess if my 2" tape eventually runs out I will give the air spray a try... TPU is the worst for pulling up the tape even on a cold bed.. PETG is next in line , don't do any PLA to speak of and ABS works very well on tape. I am guessing hair spray does not work for ABS?

Re: Garnier Fructis Extra Hold Hairspray Discontinued!

Well, I still use the 2" polymide tape with great success. only hair spray I am familiar with is what I buy for my 94 year old mother.. Suave Extreme Hold.. It is not expensive and available in any grocery store.
