Yet another overhang test part
I know there's already a bunch of different overhang tests, but I hadn't seen one that suited me, so I made yet another. This part goes from 40 degrees to 80 on a single surface in a simple, compact part. (updated - I made the numbers larger so they'll show in thicker layer builds and flipped them o...

Re: New Extruder Drive Gear
Tried running Taulman PCTPE tonight. Gave up on the new gear and went back to the old. Filament kept slipping. Diameter varies quite a lot on this stuff. I drilled out the extruder drive housing to 2mm just to be sure the filament wasn't just getting stuck.

This web site will take a 5000x5000 raster image and convert it to several different vector formats including DXF.

Re: Just setup OctoPrint. Any tips?
sal I changed none of that at all. all that stuff is pretty much set in s3d when I generate the gcode file so I don't thing the octoprint profile even comes into play. I just leave the generic reprap one in place. I've been changing the nozzle diameter in the profile when I change nozzles on the pr...

Re: Quieter Fans
In my case simply removing the fan guard made the fan so much quieter that I decided not to go to the trouble of replacing it I learned this when I was building a quiet computer for my recording studio a few years back - getting the grill away from the fan blades makes a big difference in the noise...

Re: New Extruder Drive Gear
So far I'm finding the new gear to be touchier about the pressure adjustment - needing attention when changing materials - and I haven't seen any real benefit.

Re: My 80mm Bed Fan Mod
As I said above, my main goal was to maintain cooling with a lower RPM fan - not to increase CFM.jsc wrote:Nice model. The problem is, it turns out high CFM 80mm fans rely on moving a large volume of air at low pressure to get that CFM, which is the opposite of what you want in a ducted fan.
