Re: Any heat resistant Plastics for GPS bracket in a boat?

I'm working on a part that would live in a car's glove compartment. [...] I read that glove compartments can get as hot as 66c. Do you guys think PETG can survive for an entire summer in a glove compartment without warping? I was in a similar situation a month ago when I wanted to design a replacem...

I ordered 2 backups about a month ago and they arrived with tape on both sides.

Re: What is the purpose of the binder clip?

So if I understand correctly, after I mount the platform I can remove and discard the binder clip. You may want to keep it and use it as a filament dust wiper: dust_wiper.jpg It's mentioned in Section 3 "Improving Print Quality", item 12 of the beginner guide and points to this link: http://forum.m...

FWIW, they run test prints at the factory before shipping and mine came with red demo prints.

Rev. E parts added to Github

Hey all . . . Just a quick heads-up:

The Rev E printed parts were committed to github on Tuesday.

The filament drive is up to r3 and looks interesting. The opening is more funnel-like and the ziptie hole is redesigned.

Re: First foray into PETG . . . some questions

I take the time to catch the initial purge to make sure that it doesn't get all wrapped up on the sides of the nozzle, and i'll sometimes carefully reach in with the tweezers and clean off a bit of gunk. That's been my method from the start...I always catch the purge regardless of filament. I have ...

Re: First foray into PETG . . . some questions

get those settings dialed in man... Working on it :) (forget about print quality, it will string like a mother) Yep...no worries there. My primary reason for PETG right now is for durability. I'm not worried about how it looks...I just want to dial in a durable filament that can stand up to heat an...

First foray into PETG . . . some questions

Just started my first spool of PETG (eSun Solid Black). I've done my best to take Jules' excellent post on eSun Solid Black PETG and translate the S3D settings to Slic3r. Overall, I'm pleased with my first real print after the calibration iterations. Questions: I understand the oozy/sticky remark no...

2. I cannot get the heated bed and glass seated in the frame sufficient to close the tabs over the top of the glass.[...] Is this correct or am I missing something? It's totally OK to loosen the screws on the tabs. You should be able to back the screws far enough out that the clips swing quite free...

Re: Solder Fume Extractors

I see the brass Hakko in the background. I love those things! Me too! I was using them for years before I got my Hakko station. I'll never go back to sponges. :) Solder fumes are what tell you you're alive! I do actually enjoy the smell...just figured that after decades of inhaling the fumes, I mig...
