I will say after you edit the file for wifi. It took my pi 2 two reboots and then had to reboot the router for it to go. But other than than all pi wifi setup has been easy for me. I know some others have had issues as well though.

I started with the gear vr. Phone ones are impressive in that it can run it ...but the resolution was too low for me. The pc versions are higher resolution.

Octoprint would allow you to do all those things for a 35 dollar investment if you have a spare sd card.

Change power management for USB to never turn off. Or alternatively set power scheme to high power use mode. And lastly launch windows media player and loop a music track. Seems to work....however octoprint on a raspberry pi seems more reasonable...or print from sd. You can reliably print long print...

If you used the printer to check for flatness I am guessing that is your issue. I have been buying mine from ebay and have checked every one with the comparator and they have been well withing defined specifications.
