Re: Installing an E3D V6 today, what do I need to know?

I think the V4 hot end is just not up to the job. It's likely something else, because, well, "it works for me" printing exclusively eSun PETG for the last half-dozen years … Admittedly, I'm compulsive about the setup, but the V4 (and the M2, for that matter) pretty much just work without much atten...

Re: Woops, what happens with my printer?

can't remember when I cleaned the XYZ axes None of us can, because the only time we clean things is when they stop working … [sigh] what that weird sound is That's what a stepper motor sounds like when the rotor has lost sync with the driving pulses. It doesn't do any damage, it just serves as a cl...

Re: Woops, what happens with my printer?

not been used for a few months Aaaand is in need of routine maintenance. Clean all the sticky gunk and fuzz off the Z-axis leadscrew & guide rods, then lube per the instructions. Make sure you can turn the Z-axis leadscrew by hand with the same effort from top to bottom and back again; if it's noti...

Re: Resonances in X & Y Axis?

after I tightened the X-axis belt Here's the thing: you can see differences you can't measure . At that scale, anything you change will produce a visible difference, but without actually doing anything. Remember, it all comes down to gooey plastic squished into place against not-so-gooey plastic; a...

Re: Resonances in X & Y Axis?

without long vertical sections Take a look at the infill pattern: those lines likely mark where the infill meets the perimeter, perhaps affected by perimeter speed. You may get different (not necessarily better ) results by laying infill before perimeter or the other way around. More perimeter thre...

Re: Prusaslicer 2.x

stop printing 6 layers up Click the Cut icon over on the left, uncheck Keep Upper Part, click-n-drag the cube in the middle to suit, click Perform Cut, and it's done. PrusaSlicer - cut model.png it certainly isn't as obvious, flexible or powerful as in S3D On the other paw, it's under relentless co...

Re: Prusaslicer 2.x

don't need to push the speed Nor I, as the plastic limits the printing speed to a small fraction of the maximum travel speed. Most of my motivation comes from curiosity, which, as we all know, can get ya into plenty of trouble. The weight of the platform hardware means the Y axis generally requires...

Re: Prusaslicer 2.x

G90 command (absolute positioning mode) That's supposed to be the default reset condition for a 'normal' G-Code interpreter (which Marlin is, kinda), although it's good practice to include all the defaults your program assumes (*) will be true. they only differ by an order of magnitude Close enough...

Re: Prusaslicer 2.x

the speed/acceleration limits M503 spits out about my M2E Also verify that S3D used those same limits: this may be the first time the printer has tried to accelerate that hard. You can also edit a failing G-Code file to remove everything except the prolog section to isolate the failure to a single ...

Re: Prusaslicer 2.x

it tries to print with the build platform down near the bottom If PrusaSlicer has different Z-axis speeds or accelerations than what you were using with S3D, this could be a symptom of having the poor overstressed motor lose its grip on reality and letting the platform drop while the leadscrew unwi...
