To update my original problem - the fix of reducing the flow to 90% produced two flawless 7 hour prints but only with the layer height set to 0.1mm. Increasing to 0.2mm resulted in the same problem, so maybe 90% is still too much flow for my current level of "clogness". I guess I'll buy some 0.35mm ...

that is the tensioning screw and it should be loose for pla (at least 1mm gap). 215c to 225c should be fine. which makergear pla are you using? I'm using MakerGear natural filament at 220.
