Re: Creating an Enclosure question

I drilled a 120mm hole in mine and installed one of those inexpensive AC fans you can get on Amazon, along with a temperature controller, and keep the box around 80 degrees F. That way I can "seal" the box and have it exhaust the nasty ABS fumes out my window. It can have trouble keeping it cool eno...

Re: Why is my first layer wrinkled

Coming into this late, but for what it's worth if you don't mind a matte finish on the bottom, you can use blue painters tape as well. It's a fraction of the cost of kapton, available everywhere, and doesn't require any of the extra coatings / magic eraser stuff. I had problems with glue sticks maki...

I believe final count was somewhere between 1,100 - 1,200 hours :) That doesn't include cleaning up support material either. Probably add another 50 or so for that. S3D generates great support but sometimes it's still really tough to get it to disengage.

Re: GoPro tripod mount

Cool! Could I offer a critique? Having the nut nest in from the bottom may tempt the whole thing to pull out (even if its glued). Perhaps have a slot cut above the bottom disk so that the nut cant pull out. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:713400 Unfortunately my remix of it would need support... T...

Thunderlord & Sheik Knives at Pax East 2015

I recently undertook a large project to 3D a 4 and a half foot long heavy machine gun replica from the game Destiny. Its name is Thunderlord, and was featured heavily in Bungie's promotional material for the game leading up to launch. The model came from MMF ( https://www.myminifactory.com/object/th...

What does everyone do with their empty spools?

I asked Makergear and they don't sell bulk filament. I took a look at Ultimachine and their bulk packs are the same price as buying something on a spool. I'm seriously thinking about putting tires on them and building a go kart or something cuz I'm up to 4 now -_- Thoughts? I feel bad recycling them...

Re: 3d printing with metal clay

Very neat stuff. Thoughts / questions: 1) What's the target market for this kind of thing? Are you going for the Etsy jewelry maker crowd? You mention it replacing lost-wax casting, but frankly that's kind of a poor comparison. That's like saying a M2 replaces injection molding; one is great for one...
