Re: Why the advice to set first layer to 80-90% in S3D?

90% seems to be the default in S3D (see attached). So you're suggesting higher values that what's provided in the default profile? I have noticed I have issues every so often with adhesion, and given I print on blue tape I shouldn't really ever have them... was wondering if just putting down a wider...

Re: Modified Ikea enclosure

Relatively new M2 owner here - could you post a link to this Ikea enclosure? I'm curious on materials and such - I'll probably just wind up building a plywood box for it but if I can use the fancy door like the one you've got that would be cool.

Re: What do you charge for machine time / your labor?

I really appreciate everyone's input. This has given me a lot to think about. The first thing I've done is tell all my friends/family who don't wanna pay anything that paying customers come first, so they go to the back of the line. That has started them asking "well... how much do you charge?" So t...

Re: What do you charge for machine time / your labor?

Wise words, sir. Always unsure how to handle stuff like this because I have my own projects as well. Prioritizing is annoying sometimes :)

What do you charge for machine time / your labor?

Hey gang, So my M2 is running great, and word is starting to leak out amongst a larger group of friends (friends of friends, etc.) and I'm starting to receive requests for jobs, some custom, some pretty bog standard (I want a Dalek! Ok... pick one of the 32 versions on Thingiverse). S3D gives a pret...

Re: Warts and Seams

Any chance it's maybe the filament? Have you tried different filament? I recently switched over to some silver PLA from Makergear and it's printing beautifully using mostly stock PLA profile in S3D. I just upped the extruder temperature to 225C and dropped the bed temp to 50C. Rounded faces, cones, ...

Re: Has anyone tried out Semiflex on a v3b hotend?

Insta - thanks for the update on the v3b + Ninjaflex. You are making me want my v4 pre-order to ship faster! So wow, 250C? That seems crazy high but I do recall there's a 20 degree dip to the tip-end for the v3b so that would drop it down to normal ABS levels. That's what we're aiming for, yes? Tim ...

Re: Buying printed parts

Jim - was that 80% infill with ABS or PLA? Thinking I might print a couple spare parts while I'm waiting on some filament to come in to start a project.

Re: 3mm options

This was a hotly contested topic on the Makerbot group when they announced the switch from 3mm to 1.75mm with the Replicator series. I'm still split on whether or not it was the right choice... I get the physics argument that 1.75mm = 41% less material to extrude and subsequently have to try and ret...

Has anyone tried out Semiflex on a v3b hotend?

Title pretty much says it all. I know original ninjaflex doesn't print well at all on the v3b and that supposedly the v4 fixes that (but feel free to say otherwise!) Since semiflex is more rigid, I'm curious if the v3b's will be able to handle it. I have a project that needs a kinda-sorta flexible m...
