Re: My On-Off switch for my M2 24v

I have seen the Wemo wall switches online, but not in person, so I can't verify if they are actually out or not. The idea of a button on the unit would be very smart. I like that my plug-in Wemo has a button on it to control it for times I don't have my phone on me. My cameras are Logitech 525 HD un...

Re: My On-Off switch for my M2 24v

I have a power strip plugged into a Belkin Wemo switch. I can control it using my smartphone, and the best part is that it works anywhere. I have two web cameras to see the printer - one is a close-up view of the print bed, the other is wide so I can see the whole machine and the filament spool. On ...

Re: M2 Worn pinion gear - flip it over?

It was an ebay thing after searching for a replacement motor. Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kysan-5-2-1-Planetary-Geared-Stepper-Motor-3D-Printer-RepRap-Kossel-Prusa-Nema17-/181435052637?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a3e5f325d Since I have no idea if this is the same thing that MakerGea...

Re: M2 Worn pinion gear - flip it over?

I will be ordering a new motor from Karen, but the engineering part of my brain is still curious about the 5.2:1 vs 5.18:1 question and if they are the same. Short of car differentials and motorcycle sprockets, I don't know much about gear ratios and would like to learn.

Re: M2 Worn pinion gear - flip it over?

That's what I thought. So is a 5.2:1 just rounded up? Is it the same?

I appreciate the help. I love this forum!

Re: M2 Worn pinion gear - flip it over?

Thanks jimc,

I'll contact MakerGear and get a new motor. Any clue on what the ratios mean?

Re: M2 Worn pinion gear - flip it over?

I think I found the answer to my question. I came across a photo of the pinion gear on the old MG Google group, and I see that it should have much sharper teeth than the inner teeth on my gear. The inner teeth on mine are kind of squared off. See photo below. Flipping the gear will probably not work...

M2 Worn pinion gear - flip it over?

My extruder motor had been making some clicks lately, but last night half way into a 14 hour print, the extruder stopped working and just clicked horribly. I took apart the gearbox on the stepper motor, and it looks like the pinion gear is worn. The planetary gears look just fine. So, a couple of qu...

Re: SD3 Asking for Hot End Type

Hi Ken,

You have the V3a hot end with 19V and 12V power supplies. The newest M2s have the V3b hot end with the single 24V power supply.
