Re: simplify3d v3.0

They fixed their profile saving. I was able make PETG have a 140% infill width, PLA a 150%, and ABS a 200%. I updated the profile, hit OK, exited the program. When I re-started it, it was all still there. You could not do that before. Multi-material profiles had to be written by hand in a text edito...

Re: esun petg

I usually squish my first layer for better bed adhesion. Sometimes I do it more than other times, but I don't think I ever literally make my first layer as narrow as my extrusion width setting.

Re: simplify3d v3.0

Wiggle is not interesting but the triangle and honeycomb are good. I was simulating triangle anyway by having the infill rotation alternate by 60 degrees each layer.

Re: simplify3d v3.0

I loaded an STL and it said "Cannot auto-arrange, largest part exceeds build dimensions."

This is a part that was working fine in 2.2.2.

Then it crashed.

MacOS.

Re: simplify3d v3.0

I think the best feature they ever did was the horizontal size compensation. I often use it on -0.1mm and it makes parts that I designed for CNC machining fit or thread together as printed parts.

Re: simplify3d v3.0

I just tested slicing speed.

17.59 seconds for version 2.22 and 6.17 seconds for the same file in version 3.0.

2.85x faster.

Re: Full T-800 Terminator on a base

Very impressive. It looks great.

Just one technical comment - You can't print 0.25mm wide with a 0.35mm nozzle.

Really it is best to print 0.4mm wide with a 0.35mm nozzle. The ratio of nozzle diameter to extrusion width is well established.
