Re: second extruder not working properly

You might want to make sure you have the connector plugged in correctly...which is reversed compared to extruder 0. If you don't, extruder 1 will retract instead of extrude (because they feed from different sides of the gear). I had a similar problem when I installed my dual kit. Here's a picture of...

[...]turning on the bed heater with the LCD and then trying to run a print with the Octopi Pi3. I just printed a calibration cube by setting the nozzle and bed temps with the LCD then starting the print via OctoPrint and I didn't have any issues. Is it a consistent error? Maybe a bad USB cable or c...

Re: octoprint and reprap graphic controller (the makergear o

How are you running OctoPrint?

I have a couple OctoPrint plugins that send info to the LCD so they definitely work together. I'm running a dedicated OctoPi on a Raspberry Pi 3 though.

Re: Dual extruder firmware upgrade

(If I don't have to do this to use the dual printer, then that solves my problems) You do indeed have to flash the firmware with that version enable the second extruder and make it visible to the software. After downloading this and opening it with the Arduino IDE (tested in 1.6.13 and 1.8.3) To my...

Re: Hole with Threads and Supports

Just my $.02 but I wouldn't focus on printing the threads. I'd take the 1st option, rotate it 180° on the Y-axis to eliminate all support and make much smaller pilot holes for proper reaming and tapping. You're not using Slic3r so I don't know if Cura or S3D has a similar feature...but in Slic3r, I ...

McMaster-Carr has them. The heating irons and tips are on the right-hand columns of each size.

Re: The State of the Gear

Does the MG Octoprint Plugin offers any functionality for M2 users who are already running Octoprint? The obvious big thing is being able to set starting height and level the bed from within OctoPrint. Leveling with the plugin is a different method using an interesting print pattern instead of just...

Re: The State of the Gear

I just installed the OctoPrint plugin and two quick notes for anyone wanting to try it out: If you have the Cyborg Theme plugin..disable it. If you don't, you'll get black text on a black background. It also changes some UI colors to orange. I didn't poke around on how to skip it, but as soon as you...

Re: Jogging axes on the M2 overrides end stops?

From my reading of the M2 firmware source, the endstops are *only* used for homing and aren't checked during movement commands: //=========================================================================== //=============================Mechanical Settings=========================== //==============...

Re: Best modeling software for my business

If you're starting with 2D, one option is to use Inkscape and OpenSCAD. Here's a quick demo I posted a while ago: http://forum.makergear.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4599#p29786 That example started with a scanned image but if you're already in Inkscape, you have all the drawing and text tools right ther...
