Re: M2 V4 Starting Issue

Can you post the first bit of gcode from one of your problem prints? It sounds like after the initial prime/purge/wipe there's a retraction that may be a bit too much. So the filament is retracted after the wipe and has to make up for it when it starts printing. For example, here's a snippet from on...

I'd love an answer to this one too... Hopefully it's "yes and yes"!

Another thing to check is your filament diameter and make sure it hasn't deviated too much from when you initially installed it an dialed it in.

I've had to modify my extrusion multiplier mid-spool on at least one occasion.

Re: lcd install instructions

Mine came with the ribbon cables already attached to the Rambo board. I just had to plug in the cables to the display itself but it was clearly marked:

You need to use an older version: 1.5.5. That's the tested and recommended version.

Re: best software to print from a networked M2?

I probably will be using Simplify3D but not exclusive. Someone with S3D will have to confirm, but it is probably not compatible with the Windows printer driver in this way. so why not this app could install for a regular low watts dedicated nettop cpu format running a stripped down Windows 10. and ...

Re: best software to print from a networked M2?

does the M2 appear as a shared 3D printer device in window No, the RaspberryPi becomes a server on your network that you connect to via its web interface. Or, you send files directly to it from your slicing software (Simplify3D, Repetier, Slic3r, etc.). It is not a shared printer in the same sense ...

Re: best software to print from a networked M2?

Your best bet is a RaspberryPi 3 running OctoPrint. You can run it wired or wireless.

You don't need a lot of horsepower to do the actual printing as it's just serial communications feeding the G-code to the printer and receiving status from it.

Re: Do I need the bed factory applied Kapton for PLA?

[...] 2) Save money by not having to purchase more Kapton tape. 3) Applying Kapton tape is difficult so why do it if I don’t have to. Here's something to think about on the Kapton front: You can get 8" rolls. Don't even bother with the 2" tape that came with the printer. An 8" x 36yd roll is about ...

Repairing an 8mm movie projector

I'm always on the lookout for old projectors when I visit thrift stores. Last weekend I happened upon a Kodak Instamatic M80 Super 8/Regular 8 projector in great shape for $20. But it had one common failure: The snubber/damping arm had disintegrated. I found a video on YouTube showing a working proj...
