Slicing Issue?

My daughter found something she wanted me to print on thingiverse http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:283304. I was able to print 2 out of the 3 unsupported models without issue but when I tried to print the last I noticed a problem in the preview in simplify3D. The model has a gap in it just up from t...

Re: Start/Stop printing at Height

Well I tried to do it just by pausing it and entering the codes to keep from timing out and lowering the platform. I was able to get the filament swapped out and restart the print. It repositioned itself to where it left off without issue and is still currently printing. It did however do something ...

Re: Start/Stop printing at Height

Maybe pausing the print is a better option? I have read somewhere that there is some sort of time out that needs to be dealt with after 2 minutes if I remember right. Do you think that may work better?

Re: Accuracy vs Settings

Thanks for the suggestions! I am finishing up a print and plan to try to finalize my best default settings using them. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks,

Start/Stop printing at Height

If I wanted to change the color of a printed item at a certain point and decided to use the feature in Simplify3D that allows for those setting what would the start height be for the second portion of the print? Example: 1. import model that I want to be multicolored 2. Change settings to this; Star...

Re: Accuracy vs Settings

For parts with tight tolerances the key is slowing the prints down. Once you've got bed-leveling and z-height done, I think that's the single most important factor. The default acceleration in S3D is crazy high. If you haven't already done it, add a line to your start script like: M201 X900 Y900 Z2...

Accuracy vs Settings

I have a new issue that has popped up. When I first started printing with my machine I was amazed on the accuracy of the prints. I was able to print with very little tolerance and pieces designed to fit together did without issue. I have since messed around with multiple settings in an attempt to tw...

Re: Quality Tweaks

1. Printing with higher temps in PLA will give you a glossier finish. What temperature do you normally print at? - I normally print at 215C 2. Prints with very small cross sections suffer from insufficient cooling. Are you running your fan at 100% for those models, and slowing down the print to enfo...

Re: Bridging Settings

I tried the tweaks using the test file from Thingiverse. I made adjustments to be the speed as well extrusion multiplier and was able to only see a very slight difference. Maybe it also has to do with the temp of the extruder figuring that may effect how quickly it cools.
