There's some discussion of adding LED light strips to the M2 frame here: Where to get 12v power for an LED light strip?
(A mod I'm definitely looking into... as I have a few feet of LED light strip just looking for a good home)

USB Controlled Quad Outlet Box
I used MakerBot True White PLA for this print with the same S3D settings I use for the MakerGear black PLA. Even though I'm not particularly concerned about aesthetics on this print, the box looks really nice. Each outlet is powered through an independent 250V/10A relay, controlled via USB.

Re: HO scale Train Water Tower Diorama
Beautiful work. My Dad has been building HO and N scale railroad "towns" for years... I've got to show him this.

Re: Prototype Auto/Race Data Logger
Revised version of the enclosure: now with the breadboard installed (and 3-axis accelerometer/gyro/compass moved there) and reoriented GPS receiver. When closed, the box is 4.5" x 3.5" x 2.25"

Re: Prototype Auto/Race Data Logger
Thanks! Before getting the MakerGear, I had to find an existing blank enclosure that was about the right size, then dremel the openings for the LCD, connectors, glue in nylon screws as mounting studs, etc. Time consuming, not a lot of fun, and in the end not very pretty. Now I can fit all the parts ...

Prototype Auto/Race Data Logger
The print is composed of 4 pieces: the front and back shells, plus two pieces which serve to hold the LCD touchscreen in place and support the Raspberry Pi (which mates through a connector to the LCD screen) in the proper place. There's also a 3-axis accelerometer/compass/gyro board (currently mount...

Bed Leveling and Z-height Adjustment Methods --------------------------------------------------------- From Toby: This method assumes that your bed and z-height have been leveled once but might be in need of minor adjustment from print to print. It also assumes that you are using Simplify3D, though...

Re: Snap Together Case For LCD And Temp/Humidity Sensor
If I could make a suggestion, check out Fusion 360. 123D Design is a great starter drug, but if you're going to be making things that you're going to want to tweak later, you'll want history-based parametric modeling. You can change a few dimensions, and given you've drawn your model properly with ...

Snap Together Case For LCD And Temp/Humidity Sensor
This is my first attempt at designing and printing a case from scratch. It took me a little over a day including printing both shells (total print time about 4 hours). It was a very good learning experience. The LCD display and temp/humidity sensors are from Phidgets, and they have both mechanical d...

Re: Larger Desk Lamp Shade For Larger LED Bulb
Crazy, fire-hazard bundles of loose wires around make me happy. It means there are things too important going on to worry about basic safety. As a former soundboard operator, I salute you. Here's mine. wire.jpg Nice! One of my motivations for buying a 3D printer was to attempt to declutter my...
