Re: Forum Settings

I'm having trouble attaching files to posts. It accepted a .jpg file, but I couldn't attach an .fff file or a .txt file or a file with no extension. I get the message that the file extension isn't valid. Can this be changed somewhere in the forum settings? Be nice to attach .fff and .factory files t...

Re: S3D Stretchlet model failure

This model is meant to be printed as a single outline. In S3D that corresponds to "Vase Mode", which is something you can set in the Layer tab of the Process dialog. As Jim said the model is too thin to be printed as a normal model, though you can slice it with low extrusion width parameters. Below ...

Re: Bed drops quickly after print finishes

Actually I got the idea from Jin. BTW, there's a flaw in my end Gcode I forgot about until now. I don't move the extruder away from the print, so if you're not there it's liable to ooze on your print. If I remember right the command is G28 X0 to get it to the home position in the X-axis. Others have...

Re: Bed drops quickly after print finishes

Yes, that's normal. And yes, it does seem like it throws off the bed leveling. If you're using Simplify3D you can put in some end g-code (in the scripts part of the process dialog) to drop the bed almost to the bottom under power. Then it only has a couple of millimeters to free fall. Here's what my...

Re: very interesting new slicer

Bryan, That occurred to me also. A delta printer can move fast in all three directions at once, whereas the z-screw seems relatively slow. So maybe with a delta there is a possibility of building the final surface by bridging a 3D mesh across "support pillars", and then printing detail on top of that.

Re: Time stamp

Never mind I found it. In case anyone else is looking, it's the "User Control Panel" link near the top of the page.

Time stamp

The time stamp on posts is 5 hours ahead on my computer. Is that something I have to fix in a profile somewhere or is it a setting for the whole board?

Re: very interesting new slicer

That step of adding Kapton tape to the surface would seem to limit applications. I wonder if there's a support material you could print with, then change to your surface material and have that not stick to the support but just rest on it.

Re: Hello

I'd like an "Applications" section, where people can post about what they're doing with their prints. Might be some overlap with the "Show off" section but lots of times the prints aren't the point so much as what they enable to be done.
