Re: ABS printing surface
I've heard sandpaper to copper circuit boards works well too. Especially for ninja flex. But I have yet to try.

Re: WHAT CAUSES THIS!!??
Work the problem. First check that the filament isn't getting good caught up in the tube somewhere. check to make sure the drive gear is spinning. Check if the teeth are worn out. See if your filament is being gouged by the teeth. Then proceed downward. Make sure your groove mount is tight and the f...

Re: Kapton 'Polyamide' Tape - What's the skinny?
At first I thought the kapton tape was a pain to put on. Then somebody pointed me to the soap + water solution. Take a bowl of warm water with a few drops of dawn mixed in it, cut your tape to length, then run it through the soapy water. While it is wet, you can move it around on the glass to positi...

Re: some handy tools for cleaning the hot end
Tinkered with some strings I had laying around. The .013 I had (B string in my case) did fit through the .35mm nozzle, but not easily. The .011 I had (E string) fit through easily and seemed to do the job pretty well. I just had to cut it on an angle with my cutters. And I've got a .014 (Bronze Acou...

Re: Makerware
I haven't tried to print the generated code, but looking at the preview in S3d, it looks like the replicator homes x/y to the center of the plate, rather than to the corner. And if that's the case, you should get away with simply pasting your own header in and deleting theirs. I'll try this myself w...

Re: some handy tools for cleaning the hot end
I read somewhere about using a guitar string as a nozzle probe. Does anyone recall what the correct string is? It depends entirely on what gauge strings you have wired up on your guitar. They sell different tensions of strings. the 0.35 mm nozzle is 0.0138 inches. And guitar strings are rated in th...

Re: Favorite way to prep your bed surface for printing PLA?
Been printing for 2 days. Zero error parts with Aquanet extra hold... Using S3D with no bed heating. 90% first layer height, 35% first layer speed with 3 outlines on the skirt. I wait for 2-3 min for the hairspray to dry, clean with windex and lint free screen cleaning cloth after each print sessio...

Re: Makerware
Interesting. As long as Makerware exports close enough gcode, there's no reason you can't post process it through a script to make it work with the printer you have. How does S3D's gcode viewer process what makerware spits out? Does it look right? I don't have the dual extruder upgrade, but maybe I ...

I'll bite.
When you come up with a list of parts let me know.
Right now I have to put the dog outside while printing or else he goes nuts.
I'd need to test out one of these servos to see if it bothers him, but assuming it doesn't this is probably worth its weight in gold.

Re: Dual extruder pin valves
Here's what I want to try first. I want to order the 3mm hot end barrel and plastic attachment piece from makergear. I'm going to see if Karen can introduce the parts so that I can reuse this hot end as a 1.75 mm if it doesn't work with my plug theory. If she can, then I don't mind paying for the ex...
